Creer, a highly touted running back from Tatum (Texas) High School, took an official visit to UT last weekend. Despite a stormy Saturday that saw UTs game against Marshall delayed almost an hour, Creer said he enjoyed spending time with Vol players as they waited for the game to start.
"I got to hang around the locker room and see what they do before the pre-game," he said. "It was real nice."
The 6-foot-1, 202-pound Creer said he spoke with the UT coaching staff to see where he might fit into an offense that already sports three tailbacks, sophomore Arian Foster and freshmen Montario Hardesty and LaMarcus Coker. Creer said the coaches promised he would have a chance to help the team.
"They think I can come in and be a great player," he said.
Creer said he considered committing to UT, but he never discussed it with any of the coaches.
Creer, who appeared headed out of state after eliminating Texas earlier this summer, said he has a renewed interest in the Longhorns.
Creer told the News Sentinel in June the two sides had gone their separate ways because Texas put a deadline on his decision. He said hes again considering Texas, but he hasnt spoken to any Longhorn coaches to gauge their interest.
Creer said hes unsure if a scholarship offer still stands, but he guessed the answer is "probably not."
Creer said hes also strongly considering Oklahoma.
Miami was previously second on his list behind UT, but concerns over head coach Larry Cokers job status has caused Creer to drop the Hurricanes.
"If something does happen to him and Im coming in," Creer said, "theres probably going to be a whole new coaching staff. I want the coaches to be around when Im there."
Oklahoma State is another school Creer was considering. The Cowboys have offered a scholarship to his teammate Darnius Moore, a 6-foot, 175-pound athlete, but Creer said hes no longer interested in Oklahoma State.
Creer said he plans to take an official visit to Oklahoma and, if possible, Texas. He said he hasnt set any dates.
Creer said he wont make a decision until he takes his remaining official visits.
