The 6-foot-2, 200-pound defensive back prospect from Creekside High School in Fairburn, Ga., originally planned to make his decision this summer. But with Tennessee and Florida battling to secure his services, Parks said he'll most likely wait until he takes official visits to both schools before announcing his decision.
"I want to take an official visit," Parks said on Thursday.
Parks is a bit ahead of most prospects since he plans to enroll in January. He'll take an important visit to Gainesville, Fla., this summer and toured UT's campus last weekend for the Orange and White festivities.
"It went good," Parks said. "Overall, it was a pretty good trip. The people there the fans treated us nice."
Parks met with three UT coaches during the trip, coach Phillip Fulmer, defensive coordinator John Chavis and receivers coach Trooper Taylor, who is Parks' primary recruiter.
"I was real impressed," Parks said of the meeting.
Parks' former teammate Eric Berry acted as tour guide for the trip to Knoxville. Berry played at Creekside with Parks before signing with UT last February.
"He was playing it calm," Parks said of any influence Berry might try to have on his friend's decision. "He hasn't really been trying to sell me on Tennessee. He's been telling me to go where I think it's best for me."
