UT not part of Big East vs. SEC
The two conferences and ESPN announced the format on Thursday after extended negotiations. Four teams from each conference will play a pair of double-headers annually.
The first games will be Dec. 5-6.
Birmingham will be the site of a Dec. 5 double-header. Auburn meets West Virginia at 7 p.m. on ESPN2, followed by Alabama-Georgetown at 9:30 on ESPN.
Philadelphia's Wachovia Center is the site for the Dec. 6 games. South Carolina and Providence play at 7 on ESPN2, followed by LSU-Villanova at 9:30 on ESPN.
The Big East and SEC account for four of the past five national champions and seven of the past 12.
Teams are chosen by ESPN with consultation from the conferences.
