UT walkon Bosse transfers to King College
After two years as a walk-on basketball player at the University of Tennessee, Bosse has decided to transfer and play for coach George Pitts at King College in Bristol.
"I'm really excited about the opportunity to play," the former Farragut High School star said. "I really enjoyed my time at Tennessee and appreciate everything Coach (Bruce) Pearl and his staff did for me.
"But after being on the practice squad and getting in a few games, I just got the bug to really play again."
King was 23-11 in Pitts' first season, advancing to the NAIA Division II Tournament.
If anything, Pitts sounded even more excited than Bosse.
"I think he'll be really good at our level and have a chance to compete for a starting job right away," Pitts said. "He was a pretty good high school player who went to UT and has gotten a lot better.
"He's practicing against guys like Duke Crews and Wayne Chism, so you know he has improved. He has a chance to be a difference maker for us."
The 6-foot-7, 200-pound Bosse was granted a release by UT and will have two years of eligibility remaining when he heads to King this fall. He saw action in nine games this past season.
J.T. Blair of Webb is one of his former AAU teammates and already on the Tornado roster. Alcoa's Nick Pasqua and Fulton's RuShaun Reeves also are King standouts.
"It's a really good fit and I can't wait to get up there," Bosse said. "I think I had to step up or get left behind during my time at UT.
"My job was to help those guys (Crews and Chism) get better. At the same time, they helped me develop my game."
