Harrell headed to Green Bay
The former Tennessee defensive tackle was outside with family and friends, trying to take his mind off the stress of being a potential first-round NFL draft pick..
But when the Green Bay Packers called, Harrell went inside and watched as he became the first Vol drafted Saturday with the 16th overall pick.
"I was just trying to stay calm," he said.
Now he can start packing his bags.
Despite a round of boos from Green Bay fans hoping for a running back or perhaps a wide receiver in the first round, Harrell is excited to head north.
"Im hoping when I get there I can show them what Im all about," Harrell said. "Maybe turn those boos into cheers. Im just blessed right now."
Former Volunteers defensive back Jason Allen was a first-round selection last year, also taken with the 16th overall pick by the Miami Dolphins.
