More good work from Baugh

Tennessee incoming freshman Vicki Baugh played a key role to help the United States advance to championship game of the U19 World Championships women’s basketball tournament with a 69-46 win over Spain on Saturday in Bratislava, Slovakia.

Baugh started and played 19 minutes, scoring eight points on 3-of-6 shooting and pulled down nine rebounds. Despite four personal fouls, Baugh added two blocks, two steals and one assist along with two turnovers.

“We knew exactly what their game was going to be,” Baugh said. “After watching two sessions of film and their game yesterday, we knew it was going to be fast-paced, and if they get down, they are never out. I was mentally prepared tonight, and so was the team.”

UT freshman Angie Bjorklund had seven points, one steal and three rebounds in 20 minutes. She was 2-for-9 from the field, including 1-of-7 from 3-point range. She had three turnovers.

UConn signee Maya Moore scored 15 of her game-high 24 points, including three 3-pointers, during the third quarter.

The undefeated U.S. will play Sweden (6-2) today.
