Asumnu tries out for D-League
Former University of Tennessee basketball player Stanley Asumnu is back in Knoxville after completing a tryout with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, an NBA Development League team whose affiliates include the Houston Rockets, Cleveland Cavaliers, and New Orleans Hornets according to agent and Knoxville attorney, Jared Karnes.
Agent and Knoxville attorney Jared Karnes, who is assisting Asumnu's transition to professional or semi-pro basketball, said that Asumnu played well at the Houston-based tryout last week and is awaiting their final roster decisions.
Asumnu has generated interest from countries such as China, Finland, Iceland, and Portugal. However, scouts have expressed strong concerns about his absence from basketball for more than a year when Asumnu chose to spend a fifth year at Tennessee playing football.
