Ex-Vol Kelly begins 14th Arena season

Former Tennessee quarterback Andy Kelly will begin his 14th season in the Arena Football League this weekend as a member of the New Orleans VooDoo.

Kelly, who is UT's second-leading passer, returned to the VooDoo after splitting last season with Utah and Kansas City.

The former Rhea County standout enters this season as the AFL's all-time leader in completions (3,621), passing attempts (5,827), yards (39,948) and touchdown passes (768).

Two other former Vols are on AFL active rosters heading into the opening weekend.

Receiver Marcus Nash, a favorite target during Peyton Manning's four years at Tennessee and a former Denver Broncos first-round pick, will begin his fourth season in the AFL. Nash was named the 2004 AFL offensive MVP and will play for the Dallas Desperados.

Defensive lineman Mondre Dickerson will play for the New York Dragons after playing his first season with Tampa Bay.

The Colorado Crush cut Andy McCullough earlier this week, two seasons after the receiver helped the team to the AFL championship.
