Fulton High School running back Dennis Rogan has been admitted to the University of Tennessee and will enroll for the fall semester.

Rogan received word of his admission Monday.

“It was a long process, just getting admitted,” Rogan said. “It feels a lot better just getting in.”

Rogan was a Class 3A Mr. Football finalist, BlueCross Bowl offensive MVP and earned team MVP honors in last month’s Tennessee/Kentucky All-Star Classic after rushing for a game-record 174 yards.

Rogan had intended to enroll in the second session of summer classes after the NCAA’s academic clearinghouse approved him two weeks ago, but a paperwork issues kept him from beginning classes last week.

With Rogan’s admission, the Vols have accounted for 31 of their 32 signees in the 2007 class.

Rufus Williams, a defensive end/linebacker from Florida, did not enroll during second session classes.

Twenty-six signees are on campus and attending classes. Three will attend junior college, and one player asked for and received a release from his letter of intent.

Rogan said UT’s coaches told him he will begin fall camp working with running backs. The 5-foot-10, 182-pound Rogan also played defensive back at Fulton.

As a four-year player at Fulton, Rogan amassed 5,261 yards and 81 touchdowns to help guide the Falcons to Class 3A championships in 2003, 2004 and 2006.

Fall classes begin Aug. 22.

Fayton Joins Staff: Former UT receiver C.J. Fayton will spend this fall as a graduate assistant in the recruiting office.

Fayton, who played at UT 2002-05, will evaluate tape and assist position coaches in sorting prospects.

Fayton, 24, worked in UT’s athletics development office last year, and is working toward a master’s degree in recreation administration.

“I want to be an (athletic director) someday, perhaps on the high school level,” Fayton said in a UT release. “But that is still a ways off. I also might like to stay in football, perhaps along the lines of a football operations director.”
