2 Tennessee teens killed in police chase, Ala. troopers say

RAINSVILLE, Ala. - Two Tennessee teenagers were killed in a high-speed chase with police that started in South Pittsburg, Tenn., and ended about 50 miles away on Highway 35 in Rainsville, Alabama state troopers said.

Troopers said officers tried to stop the girls, who were allegedly driving a stolen vehicle, when they crashed into a pickup truck at about 7 p.m. Monday.

Troopers with the Jacksonville Post said in a statement released Tuesday that 17-year-old Natasha Carter and 16-year-old Teri Stanford, both of Winchester, Tenn., were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the pickup, 57-year-old James Grant Radford of Rainsville, was injured and was taken to Huntsville Hospital for treatment. He was listed in serious condition.

The investigation continues.
