University of Tennessee sophomore Michele King placed ninth in the semifinals of the 100-meter freestyle at the Pan American Games.
King’s time of 57.14 seconds was just one position and .16 seconds from making the finals. King anchored the United States’ 400 freestyle relay preliminary team, which placed first in the prelims (3:45.67) and went on to claim the gold.
Former Lady Vol Fabiola Molina led the Brazilian team to a bronze medal in the 400 medley relay (4:09.27). She placed second in the 100 backstroke in 1:02.18.
