Huff helps U.S. advance to gold medal game

Tiffany Huff of Tennessee contributed two hits to U.S. Junior National team’s 3-0 softball victory over Japan Friday and spot in the gold medal game of the Junior Women’s World Championship today.

Huff had an RBI and scored a run for the U.S., which is 9-0 in the tournament in Enschede, Netherlands. With her hits, Huff raised her batting average for the tournament to .455 (10 for 22). She has two doubles and a triple. Huff has scored seven runs and driven in six.

Ashley Brignac threw a four-hit shutout for U.S.

On Thursday, Huff drove in three runs in a 6-2 victory over Venezuela.

Meanwhile, former Tennessee pitching star Monica Abbott and the U.S. national team open play today in the 14th annual Canada Cup against Japan Elite in South Surrey, British Columbia.
