Five keys to beating Ohio State

Tennessee associate head coach Tony Jones didn't hesitate to reach into his briefcase and pull out the Vols' scouting report when asked for the keys to today's game against Ohio State. Here's what UT identified as its five keys with help from staff writer Mike Griffith:

1.Utilize their (Vols') quickness: UT's three guard lineup brings an element of speed enabling the Vols to record a high number of steals and beat opponents to loose balls.

2. Rebound well: This is particularly important after Greg Oden's 15-rebound effort in the teams' first meeting, and it will take more than one Vol to box him out. Everyone must crash the boards.

3. Transition defense: The Vols need to ensure Ohio State works for its baskets. The Buckeyes have proved to be dangerous when their fast break is effective.

4. Ball-screen defense: The Buckeyes' halfcourt offense is active with a great deal of motion, screens and picks. UT players must communicate and fight through picks, switch defenders or trap the ballhandler.

5. Disallow direct-line drives: Michael Conley Jr. can not be allowed a clear path to drive to the basket, so the Vols' defenders will position themselves strategically in their location and stance.
