DT Bolden promises he'll get bolder

All spring long, Tennessee's linemen have been getting physical with board drills.

There's nowhere to hide during the one-on-one workout, which pits an offensive lineman against his defensive counterpart.

For defensive tackle Demonte' Bolden, it's been a big help.

"A defensive lineman is not going to sit there and go heads up with a lineman," he said. "The last couple weeks I've been doing something wrong by just trying to muscle. I've got the bull-headedness to try and muscle."

It won't be any easier to hide up front today, either.

The Vols will hold their second full scrimmage of spring practice early this afternoon in Neyland Stadium.

Coaches will be looking for physical play up front, and Bolden, for one, can't wait.

"My next step, as Walter Fisher says, is get in beast mode," he said. "Come out and play, play my game. Keep my fundamentals straight. Just play."

So far, there hasn't been any shortage of effort up front, where the Vols must replace Turk McBride, Justin Harrell and Matt McGlothlin from last season.

"We took the challenge on the board drill," UT coach Phillp Fulmer said. "We've got three or four guys who are trying like heck to get better."

Coaches will also be watching for improvement from the receivers as well, who have struggled against press coverage.

Fulmer said the offense will get a little better starting position during parts of today's scrimmage to put a little extra pressure against the defense.

Kickers and snappers will get plenty of work as well.
