CBS gets UT-Florida to kick off at 3:30 p.m.

DESTIN, Fla. — Two of Tennessee’s first three football games will be televised nationally this fall.

The SEC announced Wednesday that the UT-Florida game will air Sept. 15 at 3:30 p.m. on CBS and can be seen in the Knoxville area on WVLT. UT’s season opener at California on Sept. 1 already had been scheduled for prime time (8 p.m.) on ABC and televised locally on WATE.

Two other SEC non-conference games on Sept. 1 also will be televised nationally. Oklahoma State at Georgia will air at 6:45 p.m. on ESPN2, and Kansas State at Auburn will be shown at 7:45 p.m. on ESPN.

LSU and Mississippi State will open the conference season at 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, on ESPN.

Other SEC games selected for television so far:

  • Sept. 8: Alabama at Vanderbilt, 12:30 p.m., Lincoln Financial Sports (WVLT).
  • Sept. 8: South Carolina at Georgia, 5:45, ESPN2.
  • Sept. 8: South Florida at Auburn, 9 p.m., ESPN2.
  • Sept. 8: Virginia Tech at LSU, 9:15 p.m., ESPN.
  • Sept. 15: Mississippi State at Auburn, 12:30, Lincoln Financial Sports (WVLT).
  • Sept. 15:Arkansas at Alabama, 6:45, ESPN.
  • Oct. 4: Kentucky at South Carolina, 7:30 p.m., ESPN.
  • Nov. 23: Ole Miss at Mississippi State, 12:30, Lincoln Financial Sports (WVLT).
  • Nov. 23: Arkansas at LSU, 2:30, CBS (WVLT).
  • Dec. 1: SEC championship game, 4 p.m., CBS (WVLT).

CBS will telecast an SEC doubleheader Oct. 6 and Nov. 24. The games, which will be selected later, will air at 3:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Oct. 6, and at 12 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Nov. 24. Tennessee plays Georgia on Oct. 6 and Kentucky on Nov. 24.
