Scollay to manage Aquatic Center

Christine Scollay, the assistant aquatics director at Georgia, has been hired to manage the nearly completed Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center at Tennessee.

The center is due to be completed by Dec. 24.

The Vols and Lady Vols will swim their first meets in the new pool Jan. 5 - the men facing Georgia Tech at 1 p.m. and the Lady Vols meeting Northwestern at 5.

"Joining UT's athletic department is an exciting opportunity for me," Scollay said in a UT release. "I look forward to helping UT develop what is to become a premiere aquatic facility. Our goal will be to create an exciting venue that competitors and spectators alike will look forward to visiting."

Scollay, while at Georgia, helped in the hosting of NCAA swimming and diving championships in for men in 2002 and women in 2004 and 2006.

She did her undergraduate study at the University of New Hampshire and her Masters at Georgia.

Her first official day on duty will be Nov. 12.

Swimming: UT (3-0) will host NCAA champion Auburn at 4:30 today at Ray Bussard Pool in UT Student Aquatic Center. The Tigers are ranked No. 2, the Vols 11th.

Tennessee holds an 18-5 dual-meet edge with Auburn. Richard Quick, who coached at Auburn (1978-82), Texas (1982-1987) and Stanford (1987-2006) in winning 12 NCAA championships, succeeded David Marsh as Auburn coach. Marsh stepped down after the 2006-07 season.
