Tennessee's Nov. 17 game against Vanderbilt will not be televised.
A pay-per-view telecast could be an option.
A game time has not been set, however an early afternoon kickoff is likely.
This marks the second SEC game this season involving Tennessee that has not been aired by either Lincoln Financial, CBS or ESPN.
UT’s game against Louisiana-Lafayette this past Saturday was not televised.
SEC games set for TV on Nov. 17 are Kentucky at Georgia (12:30 p.m., Lincoln Financial) and LSU at Ole Miss (3:30 p.m., CBS).
ESPN and ESPN2 are not televising SEC games that weekend.

This game actually means something right now. This is HIGH stakes for the East.

If we win against Arkansas is there an option for the networks to reverse their decision and pick up the game? They may be waiting to see how that game goes. If we lose to Arkansas the Vandy game means nothing but if we win it obviously becomes imprortant around the SEC.

Kentucky beats Georgia. SC beats Florida. Arkansas beats UT. UT still controls its own destiny.

Not saying its likely... although I do think Kentucky beats Georgia.

This has been one screwed up season!!! We are 3-2 in the SEC and lead the East..Who'd of thought it!! Getting snubbed by the TV people...WOW!!!

another 90K in the stands and me listening to Bob Kesling on the internet. This season sucks as much as checkboard Bob.
Jagob38 writes:
No one other than UT fans want to see Fulmer's boring style of play. It is not entertaining to watch. Don't take any chances, be afraid to make a mistake. Don't play to win play not to lose. It is old, boring and the football of today has passed it by.

any chance cartoon network saving the day ?

nice one chrisw..the way the defense hits people its likely they put 'em on the LOGO channel.

alfrizzle097-- Auburn might beat Georgia this weekend.
I would prefer, of course, if Tennessee would just win out and it wouldn't matter who else beats whom.
GO VOLS!!! Beat Arkansas! Somehow!

If you watch football games in complete silence due to LF picked up this week's game so the TV's on mute and the radio won't work because you broke it out of anger from listening to your school's clueless radio broadcaster last week.....You might be a VolFan.
Volunatic writes:
Jagob38-- ESPN LOVED having the South Carolina game. That game was anything but boring.
If you don't like Tennessee football, why bother posting to these boards?
TurboFan writes:
Richmond, my understanding is that CBS gets first pick and must announce two weeks ahead except for two times they can defer a week which they have already used this season. Same thing with ESPN. Not sure what reason LF has.
Probably Ga-Ky is as big a game right now. But, certainly not LSU-Ole Miss, or Ark-Miss St., and definitely not Bama-Lo Monroe or Fla-Fla Atl. So what games are the networks carrying?
vol52 writes:
Since Mcfadden had 2 yards taken off his total against sc he will probably try to break the recored against us. I don't care if he does as long as we win. I will be there. However less TV ocverage does raise a point about Tennessee football being in a decline. Lots of programs seem to preparing for a change. I hope we don't wait until the well is dry. It is harder to start when the talent pool is less. Fulmer got a lot of talent so he should leave it that way.

So let me get this right, just so we are all on the same page here.
We hope UT beats Ark? But just in case we also hope Fla and Ga lose respectively, so as we are still in control of our own destiny. That way we can go to the SEC championship game in Atlanta.
I'm sorry folks but the bottom line here is...If we lose to Ark the deal is set...We aren't a championship caliber team and actually making it to Atlanta would be only another embarrassment to this season, which has been chocked full of them. We would more than likely get blown out in the SECC game.
If we should win out we could stand a chance. Again the odds in Vegas would be astronomical. We cant even manage mediocre respect in the polls. So looking ahead to Atlanta is looking a bit far into the crystal ball with high hopes
Southland writes:
the first two guys that posted-yes some of it is Fulmers fault. UT plays ugly football and I do mean ugly. Espn may have loved the SC game when they saw a 21 pt. lead blown and what they thought was Spurrier sticking the knife in and twisting it again. Hey if we were to win out it still would be some of the ugliest football on TV In the past we had an exciting and glamorous offense or a rugged defense or both and the past six years we have had neither. Who can blame the networks. I have been spending my Saturdays with the Vols for thirty plus years and I have reached the point that I do not want to watch but to listen to it is also painful Man Bob Kesling is a good guy but he is pitiful at calling a game. He deserved time to adjust following the best of all times but he has had plenty of time and he is getting worse each year.
ncvol17 writes:
I disagree about Kesling and Priest. I listen to a lot of SEC teams on XM radio and I think the K/P team is much better than most. Certainly against the guy whose catch phrase is "oh my" after a big play and certainly better than that old drunk at Ga and his hob nailed boot. Of course, no one will beat Ward. I wonder if the real old timers think Ward's predessor was better?
mparker writes:
wish to heck that UT would provide video online (free, of course). I watch the Lincoln Fnnacial replays when they are available.
I have yet to figure out why UT wouldn't provide the video (when leaglly allowed). It's good for the fans, for UT marketing, and for recruiting.

ncvol, i guess to each is own but I personally think verne is real good---the "oh my" is genuine and not contrived and staged--- and the verne/danielson team is as good as it gets IMO which perhaps may be a minority opinion I dont know--I'm down here is Ga and Munson at his best--and thats not the last few years---is/was the best IMO---no disrespect to ward who was great---and Vandy even had him for a long time

JUST WIN BABY!
NOTHING ELSE MATTERS, STATS ARE AN ILLUSION, VICTORIES ARE REALITY!
GO VOLS...

Jagob38, I couldn't agree more. Nobody wants to watch uninspiring football. I love how we decided to bring out our new package (Gerald Jones) this week....as if Ark thinks we'll use any of that in a game that matters.
Hunter writes:
Ohio State isn't pretty either, but they show almost all of their games nationally because they win. We are in Louisiana and we don't even get the LF Sports feed this week of the Arkansas game - instead we get Bammer and Missisloppy State. Go BasketVols - bring some Big Orange joy to my heart again.
MillisaAnn writes:
Oh I hope the game will be on LF or some other network, I don't want to pay the outrageous cost to see the game on Pay Per View.
yabadabadoo1026 writes:
VolCr says "Not to worry though, Fulmer will blame the networks when we get a lackluster recruiting class because we didn't get hardly any national television exposure" but I'd contend we have had too much TV audience witnessing these beatdowns this year---- the more recruits don't see this year the better for Tenn, lets stop the further damage and be happy we arent on TV now
tnmantravel#531151 writes:
the vandy game being televised is not the concern here....what is the concern is the ark game being televised to the nation/region ..whatever... will be down right embarassing for the vol defense.... :(

I listen to a lot of college football on XM, too, plus, living in DC, we can pick up the UVA, Va Tech, West Virginia, and Navy broadcasts. Kesling certainly isn't the worst of them (UVA sucks bigtime), but I've always been impressed by Ole Miss's broadcast. Kesling could learn a lot from them. I didn't like him when he was on WBIR, and I'm still not impressed.
ClearVol writes:
Munson vs. Ward?! You must be kidding (or a GA fan). If by "best" you mean biased, hateful and unprofessional then yes, Munson is/was the best.
"put a hob nail boot in his face" vs. GIVE-HIM-SIX! Yes, I believe you are on the wrong website yabadaba. For this generation there will probably be no acceptable replacement for John Ward.
volgrog#210164 writes:
Kessling's problem seems to be that he thinks he has to say what is happening as it happens. We can't see it, Bob, and if we can, we want to hear the radio broadcast because it adds excitement and color.
John Ward was so good because he made you anticipate what was going to happen..."churning, pushing, diving... Touchdown, Big Orange". He made you see the drama of the moment. I remember I got a speeding ticket after Johnny Jones scored on a long run in '83 to put us up 41-34 at Alabama-- I really didn't care (That one wasn't on TV, either).
Kessling does a much better job with basketball than football, by-the-way. I think that is because basketball requires instant communication more than football.
ClearVol writes:
Kessling announces like the Vols are playing right now; conservative, flat, not creative. Hmm what a clean sweep that would be..
iowavol writes:
DCVolfan and Alcovol, I'm with you. NCVOl, your standards have to be low to like Kesling. I'll agree with you that he's not the worst, but he is on the same page with the worst. But, being the glass half full type, I've spent a lot of time driving across Mississippi and Alabama on Friday nights and I must admit, Bob is better than the highschool broadcasters in those states.
knxsmithc writes:
"we're gonna work like heck to get this game on tv"
imnotwithphil writes:
No surprise that Vandy won't be on TV - nobody outside the state of TN cares about this game. If the Vols play up to their potential and win out, they'll go to the SEC Championship game... which will be televised in technocolor on broadcast TV. Even the Philbillies will be able to tune in from their respective trailer parks... assuming Bubba holds the rabbit ears just right...

I agree with dabishop. Why in the world would CBS show LSU vs Ole Miss? Better hide the women and children on that one. Hard time holding viewers when it gets out of hand in the first quarter.
AlpharettaVol writes:
If you have ever listened to Georgia games (Larry Munson for a couple of centuries and now Scott Howard) you would think they are part of the coaching staff. They are the ultimate homers. They use the "we" word a couple of times on every play. They also make it clear that they think Georgia has never been guilty of a rules infraction and that they get screwed by the officials every week. Kesling may not be great but he is better than most.
flyinpro#251781 writes:
Hey who needs TV! We got the nightly news with starters getting a pat on the back by the knotzville police. No discipline or control of this team by the coaching staff. It's time for a change and a drop in revenue will bring it about for sure because it is all about money when it gets right down to it..
marc_ash#231781 writes:
Not only will Kentucky beat GA, but so will Auburn this weekend.
yabadabadoo1026 writes:
Alpharettavol, that may be true but hes calling the game for ga fans not the other schools----dont think the same rules of broadcast would apply as those for network tv announcers who have a broader audience and have to show non-bias---------still think munson at his best was great
