Hardy will return from suspension

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss coach Ed Orgeron lifted sophomore defensive end Greg Hardy's indefinite suspension Monday, saying Hardy had earned his spot back on the team.

"Greg Hardy, over the last two weeks, has done everything we've asked him to do," Orgeron said at his weekly press conference, adding that Hardy would practice with the Rebels on Monday afternoon. "We're excited about that. And we expect him to do very, very well with us."

Despite missing the past two games, Hardy, the former Briarcrest Christian standout, still leads the SECin sacks (eight) and tackles for loss (15 1/2 ). His addition should help Ole Miss when top-ranked LSU visits Vaught-Hemingway Stadium Saturday afternoon.

Hardy did not make the trip for the team's game at Auburn on Oct. 27, then Orgeron announced two days later that Hardy had been suspended from the team. Though Orgeron has never been specific about what Hardy did wrong - he said Hardy had "violated team rules" - Hardy's parents said he was being disciplined because he had missed workouts and classes. Last week, Hardy took the unusual step of e-mailing a public apology to four newspaper reporters who cover the team.

Orgeron was asked what Hardy's reaction was when he learned he had been reinstated.

"Greg's ready to be back on the team," Orgeron said.

Asked to elaborate on the steps Hardy had made to regain his trust, Orgeron said: "Greg's ready to be back on the team. Greg did everything I asked him to do."
