The University of Tennessee volleyball team was unable to overcome a sluggish start and lost to Notre Dame 30-21, 30-20, 23-30, 30-19 Friday night at Stokely Athletics Center. The Lady Vols finished the season 11-18.
"Our passing, which has been one of the more consistent parts of our game this year, broke down and we were not able to get our middles involved in the offense like we normally do," UT coach Rob Patrick said.
In her final match for the Lady Vols, senior Yuliya Stoyanova had 20 kills for a team-high .545 hitting percentage.
"This match was a microcosm of our season," Patrick said. "We were not able to really run our offense, which, once again, did not allow us to get the number of kills we need to have in order to be successful against top teams. This will be one of the main items that we address this off-season."
