Dickey invited to spring training with Twins

Right-hander R.A. Dickey signed a minor-league contract with the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday that includes an invitation to spring training.

The 33-year-old Dickey spent last season with Milwaukee’s Triple-A affiliate in Nashville.

The former University of Tennessee standout was 13-6 with a 3.72 earned-run average for Nashville.

He made 22 starts and nine relief appearances and pitched 169 innings.

Dickey is 16-19 with a 5.72 ERA in 77 major league appearances, including 33 starts, all with the Texas Rangers during a five-year period.

Dickey, who converted to a knuckleballer in 2006, will report to the Twins’ spring training in Fort Myers, Fla., on Feb. 18.
