Lathers commits to Vols

Herman Lathers has committed to play football for Tennessee.

The 6-foot, 190-pound linebacker from Scotlandville in Baton Rouge, La., told the News Sentinel on Wednesday night he committed to the Vols about two weeks ago.

Lathers has received scholarship offers from Tulane, Baylor, Ole Miss and Stanford.

Lathers visited UT on Nov. 3 for the Louisiana-Lafayette game. He is UT’s 12th commitment for the 2008 signing class.
