UT sells out men's basketball season tickets

The University of Tennessee said Tuesday that men’s basketball season tickets have sold out for the 2007-08 season, a first in Tennessee history.

“I still can’t believe it,” UT coach Bruce Pearl said in a statement released by UT. “We were already so excited to get this season started, now to know we could open the season to a sell out crowd is just amazing.”

Single-game tickets for matchups against Kentucky, Florida and Ohio State have also sold out. A very limited number of tickets remain for other conference and non-conference games.

“Our basketball program continues to set records both on and off the court,” UT athletic director Mike Hamilton said. “With the sale of 16,000 season tickets already, the electricity in the building will be incredible.”

The 16,000 season tickets sold easily breaks the previous record of 13,929 set in 1987, the first season Thompson-Boling Arena was open.

The Vols will play exhibition games against California University of Pennsylvania on Nov. 2, and Lincoln Memorial on Nov. 5 before the season officially starts on Nov. 9 with a home game against Temple.

To check the availability of tickets remaining this season, visit www.utsports.com or call the Thompson-Boling Arena ticket office at 865-332-VOLS (8657).

MAN, IT'S AMAZING HOW FAR THIS TEAM HAS COME IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. I JUST HOPE THE PLAY ON THE COURT MATCHES THE EXCITEMENT. I BELIEVE IT WILL.

Face it, college sports is in the entertainment business and this coach is entertaining! Win or lose, the BB Vols should compete every night and will be exciting to watch.

What a difference two short years can make. When Bruce Pearl talked about the team he inherited in Nashville (prior to the Murray St. game) 2 years ago, he didn't say "wait til I get my guys in here and we'll show you something." He said, "these are my guys." And they proceeded to show us something we hadn't seen in a generation or so. Never thought I'd live to see the day a scalper could turn a decent buck on a UT roundball ticket.

If Crews decides to clean himself up the Big Orange will be 2 deep at every position. Even without Crews we'll be dominant at every position.

Can you guys just imagine how loud that crowd will be at the first game? Hopefully the entire season?

After what we're going through with the football team, I think people will completely let loose.

We are DESPERATE to cheer for some real competitors COACHED by a real competitor.

Being a Vol in KY is generally hard during BB but thanks to Pearl, it is getting much easier. KY fans watching FB and Vols fans waiting on BB. The world is up side down.

Coach Pearl, and Coach Summitt win nationalchampionships in the same year??

Pearl has definitely done more with less talent (but, not bad talent) in his first two years. I wish we could get the most out of our talent in football too.

Any UT current students out there? Please to go all the home games you can and if you can organize some buses for some of the away games (Especially the SEC games). Snice, Thompson-Boling Arena has been opened I never thought I would see the day when all the season tickets would sell out. The games I see on TV, I want to see all sell-outs. What does the area seat now? Is it around 21,500? We have the best arena, the best coaches, the best fans, and some real talented players. That is the perfect formula to win all our home games again this year. Now, we have enough talent now on our bench to callenge everybody on the road night in and night out. Defense, Defense, Defense, is the name of the game. We know we can run and gun. Let us show them that we can rebound (offense and deffense), play half court defense, not turn the ball over on offense, make the extra pass, play unselfish, pllay smart, & last but not least hit a good % of our FOUL SHOTS. 9 days until the 1st game. Let's go Big Orange! Let's go TN fans! Let's get fired up! GO VOLS!

Maybe we could play the home games in Neyland Stadium. At least we could see a winning team and coach there.
