Four official visitors this weekend

Tennessee’s football team will host four official visitors this weekend.

Tauren Poole from Stephens County High School in Toccoa, Ga. will finally make his official trip — a year after committing to UT last October. The 5-foot-11, 200-pound tailback has said he is also considering South Carolina.

With only one defensive lineman (Steven Fowlkes from Banneker High in College Park, Ga.) committed for the 2008 class, UT is focused on shoring up that position.

The Vols will try to sway 6-3, 275-pound defensive tackle Jeremy Lewis from Palm Beach Lakes (Fla.) High. Lewis is committed to Miami.

Lavar Edwards is another defensive line possibility. Edwards is a 6-4, 275-pound defensive end from Desire Street Academy in Baton Rouge, La.

UT will also host A.J. Alexander, a 6-foot, 180-pound versatile athlete from Altoona (Pa.) High.

Floyd Concerns: UT’s coaches can’t be pleased that J.T. Floyd has decided to take at least four other official visits, in addition to the one he’ll take to Knoxville. However, there shouldn’t have been much surprise

The 5-11, 180-pound athlete said he will visit Michigan, Maryland, North Carolina State and, possibly, South Carolina in the coming months.

Floyd has long been considered a soft commitment so the visits were all but expected. But it’s what Floyd told the Greeneville News that should have the Vols concerned.

“The real reason I’m looking around now is hearing all the coaching changes mentioned and things of that nature, I don’t want to go into a situation where I have coaches that recruited me, but they’re not the ones coaching me,” Floyd told the newspaper. “Coaching stability is a big thing.”

Well, I hope these recruits dont run into all the firefulmerons out there. They will end up at Georgia or Florida.

Word gets around on the fire Fulmer that exsist on the verious web sites.. J. T. Floyd a commit from J. L. Mann, Greenville, SC said in todays Greenville paper that with all the uproar about coaching change at UT that he would look at and visit Michigan, Maryland, South Carolina and N. C. State..Said he wanted to play for the coach's who recruited him, that coaching stability was really important to him...Would be wait and see situation with UT... Probably this will be a tough recruting year unless Vols win remainder of games (very possible) and come home 9-3, then things change.

5 reasons to come to tennessee as a running back
1-Fulmer is a nice guy
2-Trooper is a nice guy and the only good coach
3-The stadium is big
4-ughhh?
5-hmmmm?

Dang, that was harder than I thought.

4. we have charts 5. you never have to wander what we are going to do in big games (stay the course and pound the rock) unless of course it's working well and we get three points behind ... then we'll throw like heck lose the game and then "work like heck" to correct our heckuva mistakes

BOASoldier writes:

I think the recruits should definitely come to UT ... one of two things will happen if they do... we'll have a new coach that will breath new life into our team and they will be part of a class that helped bring back the winning tradition to UT. or two, they will come into a program that needs desperate help on the defensive side of the ball and will get to play regardless of their ability ... and will learn a system over four years that will prepare them for the NFL. Dang I should be a recruiter!! GO VOLS beat S.Carolina

BOA, nice save!

Would it really matter if these guys came? Our dumb a$$ coaches take great players and make them average where other coaches in the SEC i.e. Saban, Meyer, and Spurrier among others take average players and make them great. So I ma sure we will get 1 or more of these guys but what difference will it make?

VOLnATL writes:

yes Taylor is one of the best coaches we have, you missed one other... Matt Luke the tight end coach.
The other can hit the highway! Recruiting or no recruiting. We need to take the lump on the head now and make the change now or our beloved program may be slumming for years to come!

We can find recruits who want to come and play. Schools take no names and turn them into champions. OHHH iam sure we can make that accomodation.

If we get rid of Fulmer let's promote Trooper. He's young and energetic not to mention the kids respect him. I would be willing to bet he has some great ideas in that head of his. PROMOTE HIM BEFORE SOMEONE ELSE DOES!!!
