Tennessee hadn't won consecutive women's volleyball matches since it defeated Auburn on Sept. 21.
More than a month later the Lady Vols are still waiting for their next winning streak. The Tigers thwarted UT's latest attempt and got even for last month's loss with a 22-30, 30-25, 30-24, 31-29 victory Sunday afternoon in Stokely Athletics Center.
Despite the second career double from Leah Hinkey, Tennessee (9-13, 4-10 SEC) couldn't built on Friday's victory over Georgia.
Hinkey finished with 13 kills and 10 blocks. She also had a .333 hitting percentage. Teammate Nikki Fowler also had 13 kills.
But the Lady Vols couldn't match the firepower of Auburn (11-14, 3-11), which was led by Whitney Jacob's 23 kills. Rachel Shanks had 19 kills and 17 digs while Jelena Sekulic had 14 kills and 22 digs.
Sara Shanks had 59 assists.
Overall, the Tigers had five players in double figures for digs, where they had a 84-67 advantage.
Led by Hinkey, Tennessee led by as many as 10 in winning the first game. The Tigers bounced back to win the next three games. The Lady Vols put up a good fight in the final game, leading late 25-24 before Auburn finished off the match.
Tennessee is back on the road this week, playing at Ole Miss on Friday and at LSU on Sunday.
Men's Golf: Tennessee beat No. 5 Oklahoma State 3-2 in its opening match of the Callaway Golf Collegiate Match Play Championships in Greensboro, Ga.
Philip Pettitt and Chris Paisley got the Vols started with victories against the Cowboys. Pettitt beat Rickie Fowler 4 and 3, and Paisley beat Kevin Tway 3 and 2.
Charlie Ford, who was trailing the first nine holes, rallied to wrap up UT's win by beating Trent Leon 3 and 2.
Tennessee's second-round match against UCLA was suspended by darkness with the Bruins leading in four of the matches at the Reynolds Plantation Country Club.
Women's Basketball: Lady Vols freshman center Kelley Cain, who's recovering from a concussion, rode the bike during Sunday's practice, and appeared to be feeling better, UT coach Pat Summitt said.
Senior wing player Alberta Auguste, who's sidelined with a right calf contusion, now is wearing a boot to aid the recovery process.
"Obviously it's early,'' Summitt said. "We have to be patient."
Both Cain and Auguste are listed as day to day.
The Lady Vols' first exhibition game is Sunday against the U.S. national team.

Auburn kept the Lady Vols from streaking? Shucks! I would like to have seen that!
