DENVER -- The slide said everything anyone needed to know about how important this postseason run was to Todd Helton.
Never blessed with the greatest speed, the Rockies first baseman has always carried a big stick, flashed a deft glove and suited up every day as the Rockies endured season after season of frustration.
Helton continued to speak softly and lead by example Sunday. He led off the second inning with the Rockies' first hit, a line drive into the left-field gap, and dived into second base.
"I enjoyed the experience. There is no doubt about it," Helton said. "It was a lot of fun. There's a lot of moments we're going to look back on and be very proud of what we accomplished this year. We came a long way, and to not finish it is a tough pill to swallow."
Helton went 2-for-4 in Sunday's final game, scoring a run on Garrett Atkins' home run in the eighth. It salvaged what had been a somewhat disappointing postseason at the plate for Helton, who struggled in the first two rounds but finished the World Series with a .333 average (5-for-15) with two walks and one RBI.
"We accomplished a lot. We have no reason to be upset," Helton said. "We made it to the World Series. We did a lot this year. We came a long way. Hopefully, we can be where (Boston) is at next year. (Our) group of guys was unbelievable. I'm proud to say I was their teammate. One winning season in the last 10 years and we made it to the World Series. It's special."

GreerVol22, Why are you so negative about everything?

Gee Wally, I guess I'm depressed. I tried the chart thing this week and my dry erase marker ran out of ink. Thanks for caring, will you be my friend?

Greer, you really should try to lighten up. For crying out loud, the Rockies made the World Series. Who would have ever thought that, especially in August. They played well and Helton got to his sport's greatest stage. That's quite an achievement. Be happy for the guy.

I am happy for the guy. And they did play well, right up until they started the series with Beantown. Merely restating the obvious.

GreerVol22,
Maybe you can cheer Todd up by showing him all of your World Series rings. I'm sure he would be overjoyed to sit and hear of your accomplishments.

I'm so happy! Now I have three friends! Did you guys catch Jim Rome today? Guess not, I'm repeating almost everything he said, real original huh? The Roockies had a great run but were severly out matched by a superior team in all phases of the game.
and Voldemort, has that Potter kid been beating up on you again?
