Former Vol infielder Chase Headley was called up by the San Diego Padres.
Headley and Drew Marcias, both of the Class AA San Antonio Missions, were added to the Padres roster to add depth after center fielder Mike Cameron and left fielder Milton Bradley were lost to injuries.
Headley, the Texas League Player of the Year, was called up earlier this season for a 17-game stint.
Playing mainly at third base, Headley had a .330 batting average with 20 home runs and 78 RBIs with San Antonio. He was called up Tuesday but did not play in Tuesday night’s Padres’ win over San Francisco.
He played at Tennessee 2003-05.
