University of Tennessee linebacker Dorian Davis was cited for disorderly conduct in his hometown of Iowa City, Iowa over the weekend, according to the Iowa City Police Department.

Davis was cited, but neither arrested nor booked, around 6:15 p.m. Saturday in Iowa City at 3455 E. Court St. The Vols' lone open date of the season was Saturday.

An official copy of the citation and details of the incident were not immediately available Sunday, a police spokeswoman said.

UT coach Phillip Fulmer said he was looking into the matter when reached by phone Sunday evening.

Davis, a 6-foot-2, 215-pound sophomore, has recorded nine tackles and one forced fumble in four games this season. He played in all 12 games last season, primarily on special teams.

Drew Edwards covers University of Tennessee football. He may be reached at 865-342-6274.

Well at least he wasnt arrested and it wasnt at 2am.

IPOrange writes:

Man, save it for the football field this Saturday. The time to be disorderly is kickoff time, not on the Vols' open date.

yeavols#228407 writes:

He was probably celebrating a victory for another team (Iowa State?) with some buddies to see what's it like. Someone check that!

bricker865 writes:

Might have been the Hawkeyes, if the game was in Iowa City. They might make him join the team up there in exchange for a sentence. :(

invisiblekid writes:

"We’ve done it the right way. Kids graduate, go to school, haven’t had our name in the paper for anything serious in a long time." At least it wasn't assault or possession with intent to sell right coach?

thevol writes:

Do any of you smartass, judgemental asses actually know what happen? Didn't think so.

vol4jesus writes:

yeavols, as suggested for me, change your name. How is the fair weather by the way? Dorian made a mistake and you make fun of it.....classy for sure. Your cheer should be go Cyclones or Hawkeyes.

Listen to you guys! The kid was umpteen thousand miles away from Knoxville. He got cited for disorderly conduct. He wasn't arrested! He might have been in a fight with someone who probably provoked it! May have had his music turned up too loud! He's a kid! He DID NOT get arrested! This shouldn't even be a story!

he's a linebacker, for (filintheblank's) sake. some of you older people might love, or know, the stories about Ray Nettles, Hacksaw, and Steve Kiner.

Typical negative Tennessee wanna be expert fans, letting their imiginations making something big when there was no arrest, not knowing the facts, and they jump into the frey with negative comments. Why not wait for the facts?

Hey, no one got shot or lost an eye. Make him run and run and run and then run some more, then sit him out for a half.

thevol,

does YOUR smart ass know what happened?

TheGreaterGood writes:

Greetings Vol fans. Accidently stumbled onto this place and after reading the repetitive posts I thought I had died and gone to Middle School Heaven. No where on cyber space is there a there a more tightly packed and tightly knit group of 13 year olds. "Fire Fulmer," they shriek, like little programed robots.

thevol writes:

Marc-
No, my dumbass has no idea, so I didn't just guess and make judgements on a person that I do not know. It's easy to criticize hiding behind your keyboard.

Ironcity writes:

I heard one of our players got a parking ticket. Where is the Sentinal?

andy112382#209793 writes:

ilove_football, caught on to the trend, huh? You don't even have to read some of the posts on here, you see who posted it and you know what they said already.

How did our Crack Head newspaper staff even get this story? Yellow Journalism.

yeavols#228407 writes:

I was wrong...i shouldn't be so judgemental when our players have a run in with the law. Stay the course!

cgbtn#206676 writes:

The KNS must have the gretest investigative reporting resources in the country. Who would have thought they would be checking the police blotter in Iowa City, Iowa, to see if any Vol athletes had been arrested there. KNS, this is a scoop of major proportions. Congratulations to you fair and objective sports editor.

This story is missing something. Who? OK. What? Needs more detail for me--Cited, but not booked nor arrested sounds like a traffic ticket he argued about. Where? Also needs more detail--in an Iowa City bar, or at a church social, or when he intervened in a domestic dispute where one of the participants was a police officer? When? 6:15 pm is a reasonable time--not like 3:00 AM. Why? Totally missing. How? Also, totally missing. Sigh--just when the other UT is changing its slogan to "Book 'em Horns," we have to get back in the legal news. Go Vols!

volunteerTY23 writes:

OMG how can some of you say "way to go phil", it's not fulmers fault, these kids need to be smarter, he was in iowa city while phil is in maryville, how is this fulmers fault, he's supposed to follow these kids home and hold their hand's, you all are ridiculous looking for anything to jump on coach fulmer, don't come running back to his side when we win out and play in the sec championship.

invisiblekid writes:

TheVol, "It's easy to criticize hiding behind your keyboard." Seem to be doing a pretty solid job of that yourself chief.

invisiblekid writes:

Not saying this is a major issue or that it has anything to directly do with Fulmer, but the timing was ironic given his comments in the other story. And given the comment itself, it does raise the question of what is considered "serious" by Coach Fulmer.

dfreeman writes:

Anyone who wants to see this team lose just so Fulmer gets fired CANNOT be and ISN'T a University of Tennessee fan! I don't care what arguement you throw out!

jdcvols#230433 writes:

ilove-football, I would certainly want to know the facts before taking any action. It does not sound like any big deal. I do not like rumors.
