Tennessee All-American Candace Parker was named one of five finalists for the Wooden Award which goes to the best women's college basketball player.
Parker, who won the award last year, was on the list announced today that also included LSU's Sylvia Fowles, Connecticut's Maya Moore, Oklahoma's Courtney Paris and Stanford's Candice Wiggins.
Parker was also named to the 10-player Wooden All-America Team.
The award winner will be announced April 11 in Los Angeles.
Meanwhile, Parker’s left shoulder will be treated symptomatically and she will undergo further evaluation before the Lady Vols leave for Tampa, Fla., on Thursday. The Lady Vols will play LSU on Sunday at 9:30 p.m. in the semifinals of the Women's Final Four.
Parker dislocated her left shoulder, but still scored 26 points to lead the Lady Vols out of a second-half deficit for a 53-45 win over Texas A&M in the Oklahoma City Regional final Tuesday night.

CP3 is da wo-MAN!! I hope she beats out Fowles for this one. I still cannot believe Fowles was SEC POY.

I hope she wins it too but I think it will all depend on the Final Four preformance of the 3 who will be there.
Whatever, she is definetely OUR WINNER !

That's a pretty good assortment of talent! Move Maya Moore to guard, and that bunch could compete in the WNBA right now. I agree with LVFF that it will probably depend on how they do in the Final Four. As great a player as Courtney Paris was, I don't see how one could put her ahead of any of the others, since her team went out relatively early.

I pray that Candace is able to play! I would hate for her career to end like this!! I think the votes have already been counted and it just gets announced on April 11th. I think they had to be in by the sweet 16.

I think it is four of the five finalist playing in the Final Four with Courtney Paris being the only one not playing. Parker (UT), Moore (UCONN), Wiggins (STANFORD) and Fowles (LSU) are still playing. Since it is the Wooden Award and he being from the left coast, Candice Wiggins from Stanford will be named rather than the best female basketball in the country, Candace Parker.

Why is the game not starting until 9:30 pm on a Sunday night? It seems like the NCAA and ESPN would want to start a Final Four game earlier than that.

Since it is her non shooting arm i think it is no doubt she will play, however how effective will she or can she be will be the question. We need Angie to start playing like an all american and the rest of the squad to step up to the plate. These girls are all capable of playing great but they seem to "wait" on candace.
They must grow up and be the champions that they are!!!

One the most courageous sporting event efforts I have ever seen was last night by Parker. SHe really showed what she is made of. I hope she can recover and be effective the next (hopefully) 2 games. The other players must step up and contribute and stop standing and watching Parker do her thing.
