Kentucky's Patterson may need 4-6 months to heal from surgery

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Kentucky freshman forward Patrick Patterson may need four to six months to heal from surgery on his injured left ankle.
Patterson underwent a procedure to stabilize a stress fracture on the ankle in Charlotte, N.C., last week. Doctors say Patterson will be in a cast and crutches for up to six weeks.
Patterson was one of the few constants this season for the Wildcats, averaging 16.4 points and 7.7 rebounds in 25 games before being ruled out for the season in late February.
The university says guard Jodie Meeks will meet with doctors next week to determine whether to have surgery to repair a sports hernia. Injuries limited Meeks to 11 games this season for Kentucky, which went 18-13 and lost to Marquette in the opening round of the NCAA tournament.
