NASHVILLE - Meaty issues will be at "steak" in the NCAA championship game between Memphis and Kansas.
Tennessee Gov. Phil Bredesen and Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius are betting their states' prized proteins on the outcome of Monday night's game - Kansas City steaks versus pork ribs from Memphis' famous Rendevous restaurant.
Bredesen took a bite out of Kansas' hopes, saying, "A side of Jayhawk will be especially tasty with a nice Kansas steak, after the Memphis Tigers give us our first championship victory of the week."
Tennessee has two teams vying for national basketball championships. The Lady Volunteers face Stanford Tuesday night.
No word yet on a wager with California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.
More details as they develop online and in Tuesday's News Sentinel.
