Hansbrough leaving Mississippi State
STARKVILLE, Miss. — Mississippi State basketball coach Rick Stansbury says Bulldog sophomore guard Ben Hansbrough has decided to transfer following the spring semester.
“Ben is a good kid and we wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors,” Stansbury said Monday in a statement issued by the school. Mississippi State said Hansbrough has not announced where he’s tranferring to.
A 6-foot-3, 205-pound guard from Poplar Bluff, Mo., Hansbrough was State’s fourth-leading scorer this past season at 10.5 points per game.
He started 28 games and tied for the team lead with 62 made three-point field goals in shooting 36 percent from beyond the three-point arc.
He led the Bulldogs in free throw percentage (.789) this past year. Hansbrough was the team’s third-leading playmaker with 77 assists (2.6 apg) while also averaging 3.8 rebounds a game.

Strange. I don't see the NBA in this kid's future. Maybe Roy Williams feels Tyler's little brother can do better against Kansas, than his current starters.

like his brother, he can't play D. wouldn't fit in with Pearls attacking style to well.

Yeah, we don't need another Jordan Howell. Our PG is already on his way.

Don't count Ramar out yet. He can still make the improvement this year that I expected him to last year. Expect Ramar to start at point next year and the new guy to gradually gain playing time.

Why would anybody leave a major school to go play at Maryville College? Something doesn't add up here.Sounds like he was pretty solid for MSU.

Maybe the thought of another off-season in Starkville was more than he could bear.

Having been to Starkville, I would never diss any kid wanting out. LOL

Hansbrough would be an upgrade over Ramar without a doubt, but he's not coming so the argument is moot. It would be safe to say that Ramar is the most overrated recruit in the Pearl era. Limited point guard skills and no jump shot. Not exactly a 4 star talent.

Maybe he could go to Memphis-he can shoot free throws and he should be smart enough to foul when up 3 with less than 10 seconds left!

Yep, Memphis might be a fit for him, lol.
That has to go down as one of the two all time championship game choke performances at the free throw line. Right along with the the great Houston Cougar team composed of "Akeem The Dream and "Clyde The Glide" that was beaten in the early 80's by a scrappy no name NC State team. Their achilles heal was lack of a stomach at the line in clutch situations.

What's going on at MSU? Is Stansbury hard to play for? The Delk twins left last year after two years and now Hansbrough is leaving after two years. Maybe these kids think it is a JUCO! JK.
Seriously, it seems like something is wrong.

Or maybe he can join the uthugs in snottsville...and get lost in permanent mediocrity except when a Tyler Smith drops in? How much stomach and clutch did your thugs display against Louisville? Your girls are great. The uthug commentary is the intellectual equivalent of girls competition. Speaking of choking, how does a team that reaches #1 ranking...die every time it hits the 16? Answer: The SEC is vastly bball overrated.

Your little minions get so excited and agitated to play Memphis. Your year was made. Bespeaks your permanent mediocrity.
