LSU's Randolph plans to enter NBA draft

BATON ROUGE, La. — LSU freshman forward Anthony Randolph intends to enter the NBA draft, although he has not hired an agent and is leaving open the possibility of returning to the Tigers for his sophomore year.

“There cannot be a better time for me to enter the NBA draft,” Randolph said Tuesday. “I am well aware of the challenges young men face when entering the professional ranks of any career. However, I believe I am ready to face these challenges with a positive attitude, and I have faith and determination that I will succeed.”

The 6-foot-10 Randolph averaged 15.6 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.3 blocks this season. LSU was 13-18 this season, and coach John Brady was fired near the end of the regular season.

Randolph said the uncertain coaching situation had nothing to do with his decision.

“I just know that I have the opportunity of being selected in the first round,” he said. “I was counseled by my family and the coaches and we all came to the conclusion that right now would be the best time for me to pursue my professional ca

If enough of these guys come out, maybe Speights will come back to the Gators.

Take the other 6'10" dude with you as well, Johnson?

Speights has nothing left to prove at the collegiate level. He has a big body, is very athletic and a very high basketball IQ.

Some of these guys better start looking at their competition. Either they all think they will be first round picks, or they are unhappy at their current schools. When you look at the juniors and seniors, plus the freshmen like Rose, Beasley, etc. that are coming out, there just aren't enough teams for them all to make the big bucks.

That being said, with the ridiculous money being given to average players these days I guess you can't blame them. They better hope they are good enough. I would hate for them to have to get a real job in a couple of years!

Your killing me TommyJack, lol. I'm sure Tyler is NBA ready too. They don't seem to see the competition Idaho, or else guys like Roberson and Walsh a few years ago would have stayed. I think most of them have a serious over-inflated opinion of themselves.

gator4: Tyler clearly needs another year of seasoning.
