Tennessee fullback David Holbert underwent successful surgery Wednesday to repair knee ligament damage suffered during the Vols' first full scrimmage of spring practice.
According to head athletic trainer Jason McVeigh, Holbert will require at least one more surgery on his injured left knee.
He used a medical redshirt during the 2007 season after tearing the ACL in his right knee during fall camp.
Holbert is expected to undergo the second surgery this summer and continue his rehab after that.
His status for the 2008 season remains uncertain.

I hope he will receive a sixth-year and a hardship medical redshirt if he desires to return next year. If anybody deserves one injury-free season, it is David Holbert.

Really wishing the best for this young man. If the NCAA has any heart, they'll grant him another year (if needed).

Thank you David, and you're in our prayers.
