Kentucky's Meeks undergoes sports hernia surgery

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Kentucky sophomore guard Jodie Meeks is recovering from surgery to repair a bilateral sports hernia.

Meeks underwent the surgery Friday in Philadelphia by Dr. Bill Meyers, who diagnosed the injury Thursday.

Injuries limited Meeks to 11 games this season for Kentucky, which went 18-13 and lost to Marquette in the opening round of the NCAA tournament. He averaged 8.8 points in 23.2 minutes.

Meeks is the second Wildcat to undergo surgery since the conclusion of the season. Freshman Patrick Patterson underwent surgery at the beginning of the month on his left ankle to repair a stress fracture sustained during the season.
