Manning's foundation award more than $600,000

INDIANAPOLIS — Peyton Manning’s PeyBack Foundation gave $606,000 this year to charity youth organizations in Indiana, Tennessee and Louisiana.

Since its inception in 1999, the foundation established by the Indianapolis Colts quarterback has donated more than $2.5 million to help disadvantaged youngsters.

This year’s grants included $300,000 to 69 organizations in Indiana; $155,800 to 34 agencies in Tennessee, where Manning went to college; and $150,000 to 22 charities in the New Orleans area, his hometown.

“This is the highest amount we have given in any one year since our inception,” Manning said Friday. “We are honored to be able to impact the lives of thousands of children and their families.”

The deadline for 2009 grant applications is Feb. 2.

That's good. Wonder what Charles Woodsen is doing? Or Ryan Leaf?

Ryan Leaf is probably staring down some reporter right now with rage. Maybe even John Adams.
