Recruit accidentally breaks Florida's BCS trophy

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Stop the conspiracy theories: it wasn't a jealous rival who broke the Florida Gators' 2006 National Championship trophy.
It was a prospective player, a high school tight end from Tampa, who says it was an accidental bump that destroyed the $35,000 crystal trophy last week.
Orson Charles says he was on a tour when he snapped pictures of quarterback Tim Tebow's Heisman trophy and toppled the BCS trophy.
Coaches joked afterward that Charles would have to commit to play for Florida now. (Not really. The trophy is insured, and a new one is expected to arrive in 90 days.)
Charles' high school coach may have given the Gators the best scouting report on him, as well as a bit of foreshadowing. He described the teen as a "bull in a china shop."

Rumor around town says that John Adams was last seen down on Cumberland Ave. with a crazy look in his eye murmuring something about our NC trophy.

The broken trophy is not the NCAA trophy. It is BCS trophy is a crystal football sitting on top of a wooden base. This crystal football is not attached to it's wooden base. You normally see the ball at the end of the BCS Championship game. The winning team also the normal team plaque from the NCAA as well.

How do you know we aren't going to use the TE? You been watching all the sring practices or do you have some old Richmond tape laying around? Ever heard of Jason Witten or Chris Brown. By the way, Luke Stocker won the award for th most improved offensive player of the spring along with Ahmad Paige; he's a tight end. We had a 4 star TE on camupus last week named Orson Charles.

I know because I watch Tennessee football and have for a long time. It's pretty easy to see. I don't give a ______ who won the most improved player of the spring. I don't give a _____ who MIGHT become a TE. That and 2 cents could buy you a clue. Jason Witten was a rare talent and Tennessee legend... an exception to the rule, bud. Chris Brown was never used enough, nor have been the Cottoms, nor were the Finlaysons. Shoot, bleed, I guess you are the one who needs to take a look at some tape.

This kid had to feel horrible. Getting that trophey as well as the Heisman out is a great recruiting tool. Too bad ours is 10 years old
