Everyone can thank Fulmer for helping out his former players silently from his ranch at Jackson Hole.
I guess Fulmer has figured out that he doesn't have to say anything for 4 months during the off season with the exception to media days now.
Actually, Fulmer really doesn't even need to go to media days. Just take an audio tape talking about how many injurys we had last year and how the team this coming year is full of a bunch of youngin's.
WorkinLikeHeck writes:
I wonder if Foolmore will compare Crompton to Candace Parker this year at SEC media days?

Workin, looks like you got a new buddy
auttat writes:
Nope, just a new name for PearlOwns. Should have done my homework.

Well, Whatever Foolmore does, he has another 2.5 months before to figure out what he is going to say.
WorkinLikeHeck writes:
Wow...76% of the country thinks that we will not make it a BCS bowl yet again this year. Go to the following link and vote in the Sportsnation poll on bottom right:

Hey Foolmore!!!!!!

wow, I wonder what Silent Fulmer thinks about that from his ranch at Jackson Hole.

There's only 1 vote from Wyoming and it's a "NO". Hey Foolmore!!!!!
WorkinLikeHeck writes:
2 votes in from Wyoming. 1 "Yes" and 1 "No". I guess Vicki decided she needed to do some shopping so she cast her vote for hope.
WorkinLikeHeck writes:
Actually, there is still only 1 No vote from Wyoming. Sorry Vicky. Hey Foolmore!!!!
WorkinLikeHeck writes:
I guess Vicky has reconsidered and voted YES. I love the false hope that voting can bring.

I bet Fulmer is out on his ranch right now ropin' cattle err McSkillet Burrito's donning his infamous straw hat.

And on too other things. I think about all of the Vols got drafted, in the draft or free agents. What other school has that kind of record!
vol4jesus writes:
You boys are making such a nice duet over the Fulmers(proper, respactful spelling) time in Jackson Hole. Do they really go there? Are they really there now? Doesn't really matter since their time is their's and not workalike or silenciodude. Get a life boys and try to enjoy it for once and don't be so dismal. Happy for Antonio and Xavier.

Good job Coach, seven more players to the NFL to add to the 40 already there. Enjoy your vacation, I had a great time at the Boys Club golf tournament Friday at Willow Creek. It was great to meet Coach Clawson and glad you help with this worthy cause.

It is going to be difficult to get a BCS bid when you will probably lose atleast 4 games in the 2008 season. Unfortuneately it is going to be the same ole same ole. Hammered by Florida. Beaten handily by Georgia. And last minute wins by Auburn and Alabama. Sorry guys I love the Vols but it only gets worse every year.
IBleedOrange444 writes:
That's 3 that were drafted and 4 (so far) that have been signed as free agents. That doesn't leave too many others that didn't make somebody's team. Who else was there that graduated that hasn't been picked up? Ryan Karl and maybe another DB who I can't name that didn't start for us are the only ones I can think of.

Get over it people. The team looks to be in good shape to me. The running back situation looks to be good with Foster coming back. The receivers are as good as they've been in a while and we have all five starters from an offensive line that gave up two sacks (check the number for me if you will) last year. The defensive ends look like they should provide a speed rush that has been lacking in recent years. The defensive tackles should be better than last year and the secondary should be miles ahead of last year.
The question marks that I see are quarterback, special teams, and linebacker. Linebacker doesn't concern me as long as Chavis is here. Quarterback could go either way at this point, and special teams actually turned into a strength by the end of last year. Did I mention we have a returning freshman all-america kicker coming back.
Say what you will, but this could be a very strong team. Oh, RetiredVol, if we get whipped by Georgia it won't be the same old, same old. We beat the snot out of them two years in a row. As I recall, the one in '06 landed us a SI cover.
The program isn't having the success it had in the nineties, that is undeniable. Is it a bad program? Not in my book. I look forward to another exciting year.

Have fun in Atlanta...at the Peach Bowl.
abnermc writes:
Peach bowl? just like last year?
"Beaten badly by Ga"? I hope just like they hammered us last year. Look for us to lose to Fla again but end up in Atl for SEC game . 11-1. Go vols!!
WorkinLikeHeck writes:
Peach Bowl is my prediction for this year. You can insert the Outhouse bowl as well. Pretty much means the same thing.

I thought we had a deal?!?!
I saw another article on here that says Eric Young signed a deal with the Browns. That makes 3 drafted and 5 picked up in free agency. Who's left, Ryan Karl and who else? That's not bad at all when you have 9 or 10 guys graduate or leave early and 8 of them ink a deal with an NFL team.
WorkinLikeHeck writes:
All that talent, no SEC title. The SEC parity that Fulmer speaks so often about is contained to his coaching or lack thereof. We have the most draft picks and 1st rounders since the 2000 NFL draft yet Bama, Auburn, Florida (twice), UGA (twice), and LSU (thrice) have all won SEC titles with less talent over that same time period.

TJ, I heard (from from someone who sounded like TDTN) that Phil rides a Belgian. Got him from Budweiser. She has a regular saddle mare. Stay at the ranchero el charto.
Of course the names are Fritter and Glazed. LOL
IBleedOrange444 writes:
Bama last won the SEC in '99 so they haven't won it since the 2000 draft. That's one year more recently than us and we also went to a BCS game that year if I'm not mistaken (Feista Bowl - Nebraska). Surely you don't want to trade places with them?!? I would also argue that we haven't had more talent than the schools on this list since then. Georgia, Florida, Alabama, and Louisiana all have more talent in their high schools than we do so it is harder for us to even achieve the same talent as our rivals. Also, three times since 2000 the SEC champs have gone on to be the Nat'l Champs so it's not like we are struggling against weak teams. We are competing against great teams. Yes, the parity does extend to the coaching. There are lots of great coaches in our conference, but it is just that - parity. We are not at a disadvantage with our coaching staff; we're on equal footing with the best programs in the SEC and may prove to be on better footing than a lot of them given that Auburn and Arkansas have just shaken things up, Spurier's staff has lost it's D coordinator, other coaches in the league are getting to know Meyer's tendancies, etc... It is hard to find good coaches. I bet you guys would feel really stupid if the AD actually listened to you guys and got rid of Fulmer and our program really fell off the map after he left!
proud2btnvol (Inactive) writes:
I think Bama's last SEC championship was won on December 4, 1999. Add up all of your listed championships and I think it's nine, WorkinLikeHeck. However, John Madden once made the same comment about the Vols when JM was coach.

PD: That must be one badazz Belgian...
WorkinLikeHeck writes:
IBLEEDORANGE, there is this phenomena that exists where you win the 1999 SEC title (more recent than ours) and then after the New Year, those players that played the 1999 season enter the 2000 NFL draft. Now, I know why you make excuses such as the lack of instate talent in Tennessee which wasn't a problem in the 90s.
WorkinLikeHeck writes:
oh and I am going on a small twig by counting this year in the number 10 as in years without an SEC title.

I can't stand people that whine and fuss about every damn thing. You obviously think the program, the fans, the posters, and the players all suck, so get your butt out the door and go somewhere else where the whining is appreciated.

It is understood that more fans who are disgruntled elect to blog about it, that's why so many people blog about politicians, because no one likes any of them.
The sad part here is that there's only 3 or 4 of them, they just feel compelled to comment on each article 4-5 times (except if you're workin, then you comment 10-15 times, due to a lack of entertainment in his life apparently). I'd go read a book or take up backgammon if I were you old man...
As for me, I'm back to studying for my IB 419 exam for tomorrow, gotta graduate next Friday...but don't worry, I'll be one of those 106,000 blind fans who flock back to Knoxville for every football game next year...how stupid of me!

I'd like to congratulate sjt for looking at the exceptions (you know 1 BCS team out of 8 or 10 teams depending on what year, about 10%) rather than the rule. I'll take my chances with the other 90% on my side.
I was merely relaying information from a poll that ESPN was doing. Sorry you don't like the way I do it little man sjt.

update on the ESPN Sportsnation poll...79% of the country voted that we would not make a BCS bowl. Tennessee was a battleground state it appears with a 55/45 split and the only state to vote that we would make a BCS bowl game. I'll go ahead and apologize in advance to little man sjt if he gets mad at me about this poll and calls me a name.

SJT, wrong arguement, dude.
That KU, Hawaii or Boise St, given their history and tradition, makes it to a BCS game should be news.
That UT, given its history and tradition, doesn't make a BCS game should be news, but isn't anymore. That is what is sad.

I'm going to try and give CPF the benefit of playing a couple of games before i start slamming him :):)
Isn't getting slammed on national tv 3 times last year deserving of a raise and extension vol nation... I love beating kent and vandy and sc in the last few minutes of a game so everyone can talk about the parity at the bottom of the sec... Just kidding..
Silent_Fulmer writes:
sjt18 - For the record Hawaii, was heavily predicted to go to a BCS Bowl last season due to who they had coming back and there very winnable schedule.
Also, Boise St. going to a BCS Bowl? They have finished higher ranked than we have more times this decade. It is not suprising to me that they went to a BCS Bowl and won.
Speaking of Boise St., while Foolmore is in Jackson Hole, maybe he can go over to Boise and pick up some pointers on how to get back to one.
KU was also returing a very good - senior led squad, and had to beat out a very, very WEAK SCHEDULE - i.e Texas and OU was not on it!!!!! with the exception to Missouri who they lost to thus avoiding the Big 12 title game making it easier to back in to a BCS game.
SORRRY sjt18 - But you were just flushed down the toilet.
