Tennessee has brought in a unprecedented number of football prospects this spring, but the Vols are still hoping to get a big one to come visit.
Offensive lineman Morgan Moses from Meadowbrook High in Richmond, Va., stands 6-foot-7 and weighs 347 pounds. With plenty of athletic ability, it’s no surprise he’s one of the top prospects in the nation.
UT, Florida, Miami, Georgia, West Virginia, Clemson and Alabama are among the schools that have come calling with scholarship offers. Nearby Virginia, Virginia Tech and Maryland were the first to extend official invitations.
Therein lies the problem for out-of-state schools like UT. Moses knows Virginia, Virginia Tech and Maryland. He’s visited each of their campuses.
“All three of them are great schools,” Moses said. “I like the coaches, the players, good facilities and good people surrounding the team.”
In order for any school, including UT, to lure Moses, a visit is in order, either this summer or an official trip this fall. Moses said he has no plans to visit any schools this summer.
The good news is Moses said he has no leader and plans to “ride it out ’til the end,” meaning no decision is imminent.
“Distance really doesn’t play a part,” Moses said, yet another reason for the Vols and others to keep hoping.
“Tennessee is a good school and I’m looking to see more about what they’re offering,” Moses said.
Moses is being recruited by receivers coach Latrell Scott.
“Coach Scott is an awesome guy, down to earth,” Moses said. “I’m hoping to get to know him more.”
Scott, who’s in Virginia this week to visit with prospects’ coaches including Moses, has a strong sales pitch for offensive linemen since joining UT’s staff in January. With former offensive lineman turned offensive line coach Phillip Fulmer as head coach, Moses would have a tie to the top.
“That’s good to know,” Moses said. “I guess you could say he looks out for his big guys.”
Moses certainly is that. He started as a freshman playing tight end at 6-4, 260 pounds. Following a growth spurt, he moved to offensive guard during his sophomore season before finding a home at offensive tackle.

Let's hope that the former UR pipeline flows to Knoxville. Between Scott, Clawson, and Fulmer they ought to close the deal on this huge prospect.

Does he have a brother who could play DT?

check this kid out on rivals. i knew he was huge, but he can move too. he overmatches high school kids so much that it's almost unfair. as a big guy, though, he's going to have to learn to play lower.

After hearing these recruits talk about Coach Scott, has anyone given Trooper a second thought? I haven't even heard his name mentioned on these sites in quite some time. I like Troop's energy a lot, but I think it is becoming clear that there are plenty of recruiters out there without giving them a coordinator job.

I saw the tape on this guy. He looks like he is the only HSer playing on a junior high team. He dwarfs everybody on the field.

pd: Not to worry about a DT shortage. When Clawson gets the offense up & truckin', he's gonna help Chavis deploy a "Spread Defense" that mitigates the need for DTs. It worked for Richmond.

Is this the same Moses that recieved The Ten Commandments or are we talking about two different people?

murrayvol, lets be real, Chavis aint gonna making those changes

Operative word here is WISHlist. Most of the big name recruits are in a wait/see mode with the Vols. Questions still linger out there. Is Fulmer going to get fired at seasons end? Is Clawson ready for the SEC? Can Chavis Defense show improvement over last seasons? Have they found a proven QB replacement to Ainge. Big time recruits are waiting to see how the Vols pan out 6 to 8 games into the schedule. Until then nothing is proven. Just because UCLA has a QB issue isn't an automatic win for the Vols. There are some predicting the Vols to go 6-6. I believe 8-4 or 9-3.

murrayvol 9:43 - I saw enuf of our own "spread thin" defense (stretch) vs Gators last year. Seems all we hear is offense-offense-offense!
And the band plays on........

Tennessee needs to put the full court press on this kid. The highlight reel is unbelieveable...he doesn't quit until he has mashed his opponent into the ground every time.

Just once, I wish these pictures would not look like mug shots...
Brama writes:
Don't sound to good for our chances of getting him! If he is not taking any Summer Visits probably means that he likes Virginia or Virginia Tech

If t6he guys as big as people say, lets se if we can get him. But does he have heart? I'v seen a few big guys that think there size will intimidate people and just get ran over, but than again he could be a monster. By any way, hopefully clawson and Scott will help us reel this big guy in. GO VOLS!

A growth spurt? The guy went from 260 to 347. That's not a spurt... that's an explosion.
There's one thing that UT has to offer that Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Maryland doesn't - SEC play. Come to UT, Mr. Moses, and play in the best league in the country.
