Pearl's divorce finalized

Pearl

Pearl

Tennessee men's basketball coach Bruce Pearl’s divorce from his wife, Kim, after 25 years of marriage has been finalized.

He filed for divorce in Knox County in September, two days after the couple’s 25th anniversary, citing irreconcilable differences. The divorce was finalized April 1.

Pearl’s attorney, Caesar Stair, declined to comment on the details of the divorce or the custody agreement of the couple’s two youngest children. They have four children together, including Steven Pearl, a forward on the Vols squad.

Pearl, 47, separated from his wife when the coach and the Vols returned from an 11-day trip to Europe that ended Aug. 19. She didn’t accompany the team on the trip.

He was named the Southeastern Conference co-coach of the year by The Associated Press after leading Tennessee to a program-best 31 wins, the Vols’ first outright regular season SEC title in 41 years and their first No. 1 ranking in history.

Summitt and Pearl both footloose in less than a week.

Nobody can deny that the thought of them gettin together doesn't flash through our minds.

Hopefully better days are ahead for both in their personal lives.

Hope to see Pearl at Panic.

Hope to see Pearl at Panic?? Does he attend Widespread shows?

funny how the head coaches divorces coincided with one another. While we heard Pat caught RB cheating, we never really heard the root cause for Pearl's divorce.

Not to demean the man, but I bet he has been hookin up with a young beauty and if so, good for him.

you mean YOU never heard of the root cause of Pearl's divorce. Speak for yourself. The rest of have been out from under a rock.

Sorry it didnt work out CPB :(. But hey Erin Andrews **, is a step.

Maybe Bruce and Pat can have a baby so we can have SuperCoach coaching our football team.

I think the root cause would be the sudden massive increase in the bank account.

nafslov-

You're right. I shouldn't even be posting on this. I'm done. Go Vols!

Regardless of the reason, a breakup of a 25 year marriage, with 4 children, is very sad and not something anyone should make a joke of. I have never been involved in a Divorce, but I know people who have and it is always a depressing situation for those involved. Good luck to both Bruce and Pat and their spouses. I hope you all can be friends and respect each other.

At least KNS didn't print the name, age and school of the youngsters this time.

Juice, if you are referring to that picture that circulated on the internet last year, I'm not buying it.

Sadly, marriage is sometimes like buying a boat. Two happiest days are when you buy it and when you sell it....

Geno, you really shouldn't be posting with a fake name. Get back to breaking down tape of how you lost to a Stanford team that the Lady Vols destroyed. Don't come down here making accusations and bad jokes.

Whats the big deal about peop[le delving into other peoples lives. Makes life interesting.....not that i agree but interesting.

One is a REAL coach in a REAL sport, where there is REAL competition. The other one...is responsible for turning in UCONN and probably got caught cheating herself.

I agree with owensborovol- let's leave it alone. Neither has asked for our opinions. GO VOLS!

Big Orange Hustler....uhhh you might be on to something there.Lol.

There are three of you who got in gutter with this and I recommended removal. Whether KNS does it is another matter, but trash should be reported, and the one reporting should be willing to stand up and say so.

newtonrail: I just suggested removal of your sorry crybaby post.

KNS needs to go back to a pay-only format. The filth these boards have attracted is out of control.

Posted by pdhuff on May 1, 2008 at 6:46 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Aaah, its the price we pay for becoming the Dook of the Smokies. This transition to being a B Ball school takes some getting used to.

But we're well on our way....

Yeah, budrhon knew what I was talking about until KNS removed my comment.

juicetke, your reply was out of line. Sounds like you are the one who climbed out from under a rock. The post you responded to was reasonable.

For me, I'm sad for the divorce-25 years is a long time. I wish the best for the entire family.

Posted by volfan on May 1, 2008 at 9:18 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Give it a rest. These are personal issues between only those directly involved. This has no further validity on a sports site.

How tacky! This is not a story for the Sports Page. Shame on you KNS!!!

Life is strange in so many ways. Success in life is often like catching a greased pig. When you get ahold of it in one place you find out you've lost hold in another.

Raising 4 and developing a marriage alone is a monumental task. Monumental I say!
Doing it while including the demands climbing to the pinnacle of an entertainment empire is ... unimagineable.

I wish Bruce, Kim, and the children the best.

Pearl and Summit, free at last. Could this be some experiment by the UT Medical School to genetically engineer an überbasketballspieler?

Posted by juicetke on May 1, 2008 at 10:57 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Bust on me all you want. I was not referring to "the picture." I was referring to the now public relationship he has with a resident of a neighboring county of Knox.

I don't see how I am out of line when he has referred to he and this female as "We or ______ and me" when talking about financial committments to local charities. Which is great by the way.

My point is that this is pretty public knowledge that people choose not to believe because they think Pearl is the savior and can do no wrong.

Posted by WD40plusVol on May 1, 2008 at 12:20 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Juice, I haven't lived in K-town in 20 years and know nothing of the social/charity scene in Knox or surrounding counties. When you say "public relationship" does that mean newspaper published reports or Knox county gossip?

I'm sure Pealr has some hottie lined up to take on his boat this summer. I seen a really nice blonde behind the bench at a few games this year

Don't have any clue why this should even be printed here. This is a private matter and I hope Pearl, his former wife and his children are able to work through this difficult circumstance.

Divorce is always difficult for everyone. KSN, don't print this type of thing again...show more respect than that, if that's possible.

There are unconfirmed reports coming out of K'Ville that Ramar Smith has been dismissed from the UT B-ball team for violating team rules, and have offered a scholorship to a juco point guard.

Here is a story from one web site:

Tennessee offers JUCO point guard
By: James Mulcahy

Knoxville, TN- The University of Tennessee has extended a scholarship offer to popular junior-college point guard Bobby Maze.

Maze was a starting point guard for Oklahoma as a freshman, but was dismissed from the team in April of last year. He then transferred to Hutchinson Community College where he was an All-American this past season after averaging close to 21 points, seven assists and five rebounds per game. The 6’3 playmaker committed to Maryland in December, but Terps coach Gary Williams recently withdrew his scholarship offer.
Maze is also being recruited by Kentucky, Cincinnati, and St. John’s.

Unconfirmed report: We received word from Knoxville this morning that sophomore guard Ramar Smith has been dismissed from the Tennessee basketball team for violating team rules. This report has not been made public and is unconfirmed at this point. Is this the reason why Tennessee has rejoined the race for Bobby Maze’s services? We will keep you informed as we attempt to confirm this report.

HilltopperVolPhi608 - now that was funny.

Posted by General_Fritter on May 1, 2008 at 3:24 p.m. (Suggest removal)

So let me get this straight. We let one problem go and extend an offer to another problem (or is it opportunity?)? Oh I get it. The new opportunity hasn't had 3 strikes (or is it 4?) yet.

Ramar Smith dismissed = Vol thugs??

overated - you are from Memphis aka Thugville. So that is real funny coming from you.

Posted by THE_VOL on May 2, 2008 at 2:08 p.m. (Suggest removal)

John Brice and Jimmy Hyams need to get in the loop. The Ramar story is true. He will be suspended for the season if not dismissed altogether. I guess you could say he went "one toke over the line."

Bruce Pearl and Pat Summit will not hook up.

I hate to break this to you, but......

PAT SUMMIT LIKES GIRLS!

(not that there's anything wrong with that)
