Florida tight end Cornelius Ingram will undergo season-ending surgery on his left knee Monday.
The fifth-year senior suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament during one-on-one drills Tuesday. Although Ingram could apply for an extra year of eligibility, sources told The Gainesville Sun that Ingram’s goal is to get ready for the NFL combine.
The 6-foot-4, 245-pound Ingram started five of Florida’s 13 games last year and ranked fourth on the team with 34 catches and 508 yards.
This was expected to be Ingram’s breakout season. He was going to be a more of a true tight end instead of lining up as an inside receiver and a featured target for Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow.
Sophomore Aaron Hernandez is expected to get the first look to replace Ingram with junior Tate Casey also available.

It's turning into an epidemic. They may have to quarantine all football games this year.

I am sure the gatorites will be here soon to tell us that losing this kid is not a big deal and that there are 40 better players waiting to step in.
Kindest Regards

Yea they got 3rd, 4th and 5th string guys at every position that would start for Tennessee and every other team in the nation.

dont understand why some people want to put something negative on here
Good luck with your CI recovery hope all goes well

Yeh, Florida has such depth that they came in 3rd in the division last year.

sorry my CI should be after recovery

This is indeed strange.
I thought there was an article on here either yesterday or the day before that said that Ingram was able to walk off the practice field with no help and didn't show any signs of limping. he tore his ACL and was able to walk by himself with little or no pain ?
DennisVols writes:
Turned down the opportunity to go pro for one more year. You have to admire that.
His stock value will surely drop with this type of injury.
Hate the team but not the player. He showed a great deal of commitment in turning down the kind of opportunity most of us could only dream of for one more year at the college level.

Now this hurts. Much more so then us losing out 3rd string DT
utchris writes:
Michael,
It is not uncommon for some players to walk off the field to learn later on that they tore their ACL. It depends on the individual and the strength of their surrounding musles (i.e. quad). Remember, we had a player 2 years ago that played 4 or 5 games with a torn ACL!

This surely has to change their gameplan to some extent.
I recall reading just a couple of days ago Fulmer mentioning how people never really caught on to how much losing Brad Cottam changed our gameplan/strategy on offense when he went down in fall. Don't see how this is any different, if not more of a blow.

not a gator fan but hate to hear that for him... great athlete with good size, could change things up for the gators somewhat

Dude was going to have a great year and be the #1 TE taken by the NFL. Hate to hear that, but glad our linebackers won't have to cover him.

I wasn't that impressed with him. Wish him a complete recovery and best of luck.

Hate to see any player have a season ending injury. Ingram is a great player.

DC , Drayton left because he wasn't important to the Oscar Meyer system(a bit of Tebow weiner fun..)
I don't know if he'll pan out at UT either but at least he is in a place with a different philosophy where he has an opportunity to grow professionally. ...TBD

This article is about 14 hours behind...
14 hours behind or not, remember DC, this isn't a florida site, so news like this isn't really an issue as much as it is in croc country.

Rich, regarding your 11:27pm post:
Let me educate you further on Stan Drayton and Trent Pupello.
Not only could Drayton not train and develop running backs, he had several busts in his recruiting hauls.
I won't speak to having anywhere near the knowledge you have on Drayton. However, I will say IMO the reason Drayton came to UT was multi faceted. I think he and Meyer had a very bad relationship from what I've read in reports and Drayton felt he had been wronged in many ways. However, all I've read from Drayton has been respectful in regard to Meyer. But, those points are moot.
I think Drayton came on board partially out of spite and partially out of being in a situation where he could actually coach a team that actually utilizes a running game. UT definitely fits that mold.
UF didn't utilize the RB and hasn't had a running back for quite some time. Could Drayton "train and develop running backs"? Not sure. But, how can folks really tell how well he could develop/train them when the system isn't based on a running game. Should he have developed Tebow...he was your running back the last 2 years.
I think Drayton has done well with recruiting athletes at UT. When you are a running backs coach for Florida trying to recruit running backs to a school that don't use the RB, I would imagine it would be hard to recruit them.

Nevermind the fact that Foster stayed another year specifically because Drayton outlined a program to TRAIN AND DEVELOP him.
That is my main reason for thinking Drayton knows what he is doing.

Anyone remember Jamal Lewis' last run the year he tore his ACL? He tore his ACL, came back in and busted out a 30+ yard run, but came up gimpy at the end...
Good luck with recovery CI..

Just glad we don't have to face him on the field. Hope he has a long sucessful NFL career, but I'm not gonna shed any tears. Made our secondary look silly last year.

The dude was a MAN among boys until the Auburn game in '98. I long for the days of watching a Webb, Garner, or Lewis run with the ball.

DC/Mcbrim,
run left+run right+run up the middle+punt=10wins
explain how the Meyer formula got to 10 wins for Florida last year? and yes TN is your b before you go scoreboard on us....again.
HotlantaVol writes:
Say what you want, gator-goobs, but it appeared as though Meyer was more than a little upset Drayton went to Tennessee. If he was such a liability, Oscar should have been glad to see him go. Doubly glad to have him go and keep a rival in mediocrity by his presence.
