Sophomore Nick Reveiz and juniors Morgan Cox and Cody Sullins were placed on scholarship for the 2008-09 academic year by Tennessee.
Reveiz, a reserve linebacker from Farragut, led the Vols last year in special teams tackles.
Cox, who is from Collierville, is entering his second season handling the deep snapper's duties for punting and place kicks.
Sullins, who is from Cottonwood, has been a regular on SEC travel squads and is splitting time this fall at center and guard.
"It's always thrilling when you are able to reward young men for their efforts," UT coach Phillip Fulmer said in a UT release. "Particularly young men that have great character, work ethic and bring a spirit to your team."

Congrats,guys.
Now who lost theirs?

I don't want to open a can of worms here because the Reveiz family is one of the great families in UT football and from everything I've seen and heard Nick is a well-deserving football player. But Fuad Reveiz was a longtime NFL player and has been a successful contractor in Knoxville for years.
The same argument could be made for the Manning family, the Winslows at Miami and countless others that have a pro football background and can afford to pay for their child's education while they are playing college ball.
I wonder if there wouldn't be some sort of special status that could be created to recognize a player as a scholarship caliber athlete while awarding the money to someone that might have greater need.
At any rate, congratulations to all three young men. Now go out and help us bring home a title.

If there is someone deserving and needing, they would get it and coach would hold one from someone who could pay. One that was available is Brittons'.

FWB- On the one hand, I do see your point, but on the other, Nick Reveiz has worked his tail off. He walked on at UT and through hard work and determination has earned his playing time, and now this scholarship. He could be content to go to school on daddy's dime, but he has shown himself to be his own man. He's earning his own way. I applaud that. I hope all of UT's players look to Nick for inspiration because this kid has shown heart and has shown a true passion for the Volunteers. So all I can really say about Nick is, good job young man, and thank you.

These 'walk-ons' earned their 'schollys,' which are probably the 83-85th ones we have. Maybe they come from those who could not get into school this year, or from players dismissed for disciplinary reasons (although Colquitt is the only one that I remember, and I believe that he may still have his 'ship.' I hope Kosmo's shades were drawn, and that his wife and kids were out! Go Vols! SAVol

This is a Meritocracy, not socialism. Give it to those who earn it.

When I turned eighteen, I no longer asked my dad for money. Good for you Nick and the rest of the walk-ons who earned a scholly.
