Ole Miss loses another starter on defensive line

OXFORD, Miss. - Three-fourths of Ole Miss' projected starting defensive line will likely not be available when the Rebels open Aug. 30 against Memphis.

Ole Miss senior defensive tackle Peria Jerry underwent arthroscopic surgery Monday to repair his injured right knee.

There is no timetable for his return, according to Ole Miss trainer Tim Mullins.

Ole Miss was already going to be without sophomore tackle Ted Laurent (knee) and junior All-SEC end Greg Hardy (broken foot) for at least the season's first few games.

"We're thankful a ligament was not involved, and we're glad Peria will be back this season," Rebels coach Houston Nutt said in a press release.

"We've had a bad injury bug to our defensive line this preseason. Fortunately, we feel none of the injuries have been season ending, and we're looking forward to getting everyone back."
