This year marks the 10th anniversary of Tennessee's 1998 National Football Championship and to celebrate the UT Athletics Department has announced a special reunion for the entire team planned for Oct. 24-25.
The weekend’s festivities include a special gala titled “Perfection” for members of the 1998 Tennessee football team and UT fans at the Tennessee Theatre on Oct. 24, followed by a team recognition during the game against Alabama the next day.
UT announced the “Perfection” campaign, presented by Dish Network, this past spring while hosting several members of the ’98 team during the Dish Network Orange and White Game. As part of the celebration honoring the 1998 Vols, the Vol Network will release a special commemorative edition 10th anniversary multi-disc DVD box set titled “Perfection.” A special screening of the DVD will be shown at the Perfection gala event. The DVD will be available to the public in late October at participating JCPenney stores and online at www.volnetwork.tv.
“Tennessee football has a tradition of excellence,” said UT athletic director Mike Hamilton. “We’re fortunate to have the opportunity to bring these guys back and pay tribute to everything they accomplished.”
All football season, the Volunteers are paying tribute to the players who brought home Tennessee’s first national championship in 31 years. Members of the team will be recognized as the Dish Network Legend of the Game before each home game.
“1998 was an unforgettable year,” said UT coach Phillip Fulmer. “We’re fortunate to have the opportunity to celebrate the accomplishment of this team and all those who have worn orange before them.”
Tickets to the Oct. 24 premiere event are $50 each and go on sale this Friday at 10 a.m. To purchase tickets, please call the Tennessee Theatre box office at 865-684-1200, Tickets Unlimited 865-656-4444 or visit the Tennessee Theatre Web site at www.tennesseetheatre.com.

I know pd and workin remind us everyday, but it does not seem like its been 10 years since '98. If your team won all the time, moments like these wouldn't be so special. That was an incredible year for me

Say all you want to about the UT National Championship....At lease UT has own a national championship in the last 10 years. On top of that, UT won the NC by winning a game (winning 13 games actually)....not by a vote. Until Bama wins a NC on the field, I dont want to hear any talk from the Alabubbas.

At least UT was smart enough to not schedule the reunion during the Florda weekend, watching the Gators hang another loss on UT and Fulmer will damper the celebration.

Should be a very enjoyable event getting to see the old timers. They must be all over 30.
Can remember a lot of it. Very enjoyable, although the Arkie game showed we were destined.

The next weekend during homecoming there will be a special celebration to mark the 10th anniversary of our last SEC title as well.

Some Alabama fans are great. I love to taligate with them. Then there is this idiot. He probably thinks Alabama has 12 national championships. Guess what? They don't. They have 6. We don't have 6. We have 2. We deserve a few more, but that's the way it went. We need to destroy Alabama this year. Thanks for coming out....

UT fans,
iam4ua is just upset because Bama has sucked for the last 14yrs. Sure they've gotten a couple of wins over UT the last few years, but that's gonna happen in any rivalry. (Well except for Kentucky, but then we shouldn't call that a rivalry).
He's probably one of those people who had a big party the day they hired Saban.
If you think about it Alabama couldn't have a 10 year reunion for their NC they won in the 90's because nobody would've come due to how bad they were. If they would've come it might've looked like they were supporting Shula. And not even the AD wanted to show support for him.

I'll never forget the Florida and Arkansas games that year. Two of the all-time greatest Neyland moments for sure.
GotPearl writes:
iam4ua - get a life and get over it! You all can visit Jimmy Johns in 10 years, he might be out of prison by then...LA Monroe and the rest of the SEC is still giggling that you pay a coach $666,000 a win!!! It will probably be 10 years before you beat Auburn again! Get off this site cheater!

Those poor birds that have been circling Tuscaloosa for the last 15 years still haven't found anything down there even worth shi**ing on.

Hey iam4ua, no amount of bs from you will dampen our championship in '98. The fact that we had the ball bounce our way (literaly), and it was the first BCS championship, make it that much more enjoyable, even today! I hope the enthusiasm from the celebration helps us beat UA....let's say....41-17.

Nice. I'm going to Knoxville for the Alabama game. I think they should recognize the team and also invite Clint Stoener.
Special thanks for your suckage Clint.
iam4ua, you may have won last year but you are no longer a big deal. Florida has taken your place because you have been mediocre for too long.
GO VOLS

I live in AL and I have never been around fans that "live in the past" more than bama fans. All they talk about are their years of greatness with Bear Bryant and claim all these national titles even when they lost a bowl game. Yes Bear was a great coach but poor bama fans can't get over the fact that this man has been dead for many years and they can't beat Auburn "Talk about living in the past!"

surprise surprise...this post is for iam4ua.
Since alabama football is comprised of model citizens, I'll leave that aspect alone. But LAVol hit the nail on the head about "living in the past". Seriously, what's up with the ridiculous looking bear bryant hats you people wear? Wasn't he like 40-something coaches ago? By the way, do you have la-monroe on the schedule this year?

Hey Bammer, Get your facts straight, Leonard Little was not on NC team. And Goodrich had his run-in with the law after he was gone, also. Lame post, pal.

That's a pretty cold statement, iam4ua. Didn't your inbred momma and daddy teach you any better? You dam inbred are all the same. I'm a bit shocked that the KNS Nazi hasn't removed your post. I hope lightning strikes your trailer tonight and it burns to the ground.

Could it be that Bear is back in the form of Satan and you are still irrelevant,OMG 18 years and still counting.Wonder how many of those N.C.'s would you have to give up due to the Bear's CHEATING ?? !! Guess you cant win them all and Bama is living proof of that.

We went to the 100 Years of Volunteers Celebration in '90 with the All-Time team at TBA and it was off the hook!!! Lots of pride and lots of tears. That was one on the most, if not THE most, special evenings I've spent on The Hill in almost 5 decades.
I wouldn't miss this one for anything.

BTW, I was invited the 100 year get-together at the Winfrey for the All-Time Bama team too and it was oh so lame. What a bunch of drunk redneck ex-jocks. One of my good friends made their 100-year team at WR and took me along. Naturally I was dressed appropriately - in orange - and consequently took some good natured heat. Stallings was a total cold fish goob! At that type of function he had the surprising personality of a frozen amoeba. I got to go up to Bart Starrs' room and meet he and his wife in private - VERY nice and classy couple. There are a lot of Bama alumni and former players that are my friends that I do respect and they are people of high character but Lord… those mullet-head, tobacco-spittin’, trailer park livin’, cut-off blue jean wearin’, knuckle-draggin’, uni-brow sportin’, eight-toothed, red-headed Tabooster, wife beater T-shirt wearin’, first-cousin marryin’, Third grade drop-out sidewalk alumni are worse than a double dose of crabs in the 125 degree summer heat of the Northern Sahara desert…unBEARable!!!

Everyone that wins a national title has some luck. Yeah we got lucky that Stoner fumbled but at the end of the day we still won it all and there is nothing you can do or say about it.
Take FL's national title. During our game with them we were called for a BOGUS personal foul penalty where Leake through a interception that was returned for a TD. If that bogus call wouldn't have been called we would have won the game and their National Title would have been up in smoke. Guess what; the call was made and they beat the holy phooey out of Ohio State.
If we ever have the stars set like they were in 98 I will take it and listen to you complain with a BIG ORANGE SMILE
chad_t31 writes:
Alabama's hardly ever in a meaningful game for there to be a chance of a bogus call to be called on them.
