Kentucky coach Rich Brooks said Thursday that freshman Randall Cobb is such a diverse player he may use him in the quarterback position, backing up Mike Hartline, and also in the receiver and punt return positions.
"He's a three-way player," Brooks said about the Alcoa High School graduate. "He throws the ball well, catches well, he's a great athlete."
Brooks said that Kyrus Lanxter, who is from Alcoa, and Dicky Lyons Jr. are leading the pack at wide receiver and that receiver Anthony Mosley was moved to cornerback.

You LOSERS. You said the same thing about Warren when he picked Florida State and now you love him. You bunch of spineless hypocrites.
Cobb is going to be a very good SEC player and when all is said and done, you will be wishing he had come to tennessee.
Oh by the way, Kentucky just got ANOTHER 5-STAR Quarterback commit yesterday.....Morgan Newton. You can watch him on ESPN Saturday at noon.

Ease up, partner.

Yea, maybe Cobb will realize his mistake suiting up for the Men in Blue and end up in Knoxville like Warren.
If not, oh well, good riddance, good luck, stay healthy, and enjoy the nations longest losing streak against a team you're so bitter towards.
As for you kitty cat fan, we've got our fair share of dual-threat guys so check your attitude at the GVX door, bro!

Cat - I'd be pissed if my team held the longest losing streak against a team also. But, you should be mad at Ky not TN. Jealously is like a cancer...it eats you from the inside!

CatLitter,
Cobb may very well end up being a good SEC player, just not at QB. That's what UT tried to tell him, but he didn't want to hear it. Apparently, Brooks is making good on his word to "give him a shot" at QB, but he's already spinning the kid to prep him for the switch to WR/PR.

Ut did offer cobb as a qb and a qb only. he was offered as a qb after fulmer and cutcliff watched him throw during an alcoa practice last season.

Hey lilKittyscratch, if UK did not have the injuries and qb getting the boot, would cobb be playing qb?
cjraney writes:
cat's sack-
I already do wish Cobb chose UT, just so I wouldn't have to read your drivle on the subject.
OTOH, UK is looking at a true freshman to save them in all 3 areas of the game. Good luck with that.
jmbigorange#280428 writes:
With Kentuckys recent QB pickups it looks like Cobb's chances of playing QB just got a little slimmer.
jmbigorange#280428 writes:
Catnip...5* on Scout. 3* on Rivals. Either way i hope he enjoys losing to UT because not only do we own you in football now your beloved basketball program has fallen under the thumb of the Pearl.
Greyback_Vol writes:
The guy actually sounds like he may be a good player. This would bother me much more if Cobb went to a school that could actually put some decent talent around him.

Well, what did his 5 stars get him.....

Jeff- I was thinking of Couch myself as I read down through some of the comments. He sure took the 'cats far, didn't he?
I think many on this board would have wished Cobb the best of luck and meant it, IF NOT for him talking trash about UT. He didn't like what UT had to offer him, fine, but there was no call to throw stones. The kid needs to learn to keep his mouth shut and let his play do the talking. IF he does develop into something, he's already provided our guys with bulletin board material. Not smart.
To me, the biggest question is how much talent does it take to star at KY? Maybe the kid is the real deal, maybe he's just an average talent shining out against mediocre talent. Only time will tell.

Too true Murray too true.
As far as QB's leaving the state of TN, I am much more interested to see how things turn out for Curt Phillips from Kingsport. No sour grapes torward Cobb, but 5'11" and 175lbs doesn't sound like a prototypical all SEC QB.
VOLatile writes:
Lots of love for Cobb....Good luck in NorthTennesseejunior!
