BEIJING — Sanya Richards drew anchor duties for the U.S. women in Friday night's preliminary round of the 1,600-meter relay. Her relay team also included Mary Wineberg, Monique Henderson and Natasha Hastings. Originally, former University of Tennessee star Dee Dee Trotter was slated as the anchor, but her knee was swelling so Richards was inserted as a late replacement.
Wineberg and Trotter failed to make to the finals at 400 meters. Henderson and Hastings were part of the U.S. team’s relay pool.
