We need Cedrick to go and talk to Marlon this year.

Lots of those were bigger after 1998.

Had different Spanish classes with Keyon Whiteside, Dominique Stevenson, and Reggie Coleman; all great guys. Reggie's Spanish class name was Reginaldo, always found that amusing for whatever reason. Old summer school days, I guess.

I dont think Donte was apart of the 98 team

Man, it's wierd this article shows up today. This Saturday afternoon I was in a fitness club in Stockton, CA wearing some orange sweatpants. Some guy asks me if I went to school at Tennessee. Come to find out, he's Ron Green, defensive tackle on the 1998 team. So we swapped some stories and memories (e.g. the Arkansas fumble). Hey, he looks like he could still play!

utmichael20#546617 writes:

Yea, im pretty sure Donté was on the team... pretty sure that would've been his freshman year... would've graduated in 2002 but left early, after the 2001 season.

pms151 writes:

Gate 21, I had that same thing happen to me in Houston a couple of years ago. It was Fred Weary and he still can play!

Pretty good success stories.

Stallworth redshirted in 98. He played the role of Peter Warrick during fiesta bowl practices. He was a redshirt Jr. when he left in 01. John Henderson was also listed here, but I don't think he received a ring. I think he didn't qualify academically his first year.

Wasnt Albert Haynesworth on that team?

** And most were back on the 99 team. Only Fulmer could lose 3 games with that bunch. They should have dominated the 99 season. Instead the Sanders' slide had begun. **

Or was 98' just one of the greatest coaching jobs of all time with a team that shoulda / coulda easily lost 2 or 3? Hard to tell sometimes.

Orangeblood13 writes:

fat albert was hurt like always, so no credit to him...Goodrich was awesome man, to bad he had no brains... The cheese had something special and thre it all away, wow, good article, lots of success stories, but that next year, they could have been something even more special

CoverOrange writes:

GRvol, how do you explain 2001 with Randy Sanders at the controls?

ncvol17 writes:

What were the circumstances that sent Goodrich to prison? ( 2 people died in a hit and run ?) He shoulda played for the RAMS, St Loius is more forgiving to L. Little.

I could never understand how Jeff Hall failed as a pro. He was so good for us. NFL to darned tall?

Long ago and far away it was a magic night at the Tosteado's Bowl.

Not many since.

Agree on Jeff Hall, thought he was a lock.

John Henderson and Donte Stallworth were on the roster, but did not play at all in 1998. Overstreet was a true Freshman. Jamal Lewis was lost for the season after the Auburn game.

BobbyGraham writes:

when you look at that roster, it is not hard to figure out why we have been on a downward slide since the 90's. Those guys were studs.

Travis Henry - Running back picked in the second round by Buffalo (2001-04) before going to the Tennessee Titans (2005-06) and Denver Broncos (2007). Now professionally making illegitimate kids across the country.
