Former Vol Wardlow lands at Bethel College

Former Tennessee safety Antonio Wardlow has landed at Bethel College in McKenzie, Tenn.

Athletic director Glenn Hayes told The Jackson (Tenn.) Sun that Wardlow transferred to the NAIA school and is eligible to play this season.

Wardlow was dismissed by the Vols in February for an undisclosed violation of team rules.

Football coach Dino Kaklis said Wardlow contacted the school after his dismissal.

“He is looking for a second opportunity,” Kaklis told the newspaper. “He is looking for an opportunity to correct the mistakes he made (at Tennessee).”

Wardlow made an interception at the 1-yard line that helped Tennessee hold off Wisconsin in the Outback Bowl last season.

He has two years of eligibility remaining.

Best of luck to him. In the end, it's probably better for him. He would have added depth, but I doubt he would have seen a whole lot of action behind Berry and Morley. I appreciate the time he gave us and hope it works out for him.
