Run like the wind, Bullseye!

Michael1204 writes:

I suspect about 2-3 running plays with Foster. After that, we'll probably throw some sort of flip/flare pass to Foster out of the backfield.

dburgVol writes:

First play from scrimmage will be a draw with Arian Foster. Book it! Won't try a long pass or anything fancy on the first play of the first game of the season. They're always conservative early and they will want to built up Crompton's confidence and then let him loose.

PepperGrinder (Inactive) writes:

Something very similar to the first play of the Kentucky game. I would assume.

DennisVols writes:

Fake to Foster and long pass to Jones.

GreerVol22 writes:

Play action bootleg that turns into a short pass to Foster, scampering for 37 yards, caught from behind by a linebacker.

YakVomit writes:

UCLA is going to stack their dfensive front to test our "new" QB. A play-action pass will be a big gain and put the Bruins on their heels

budrhon writes:

Uhhh... too hopefully score by any play that will work and or not have a turnover? Someone at the KNS actually dreams up this stuff? Wow!

nicksjuzunk#646117 writes:

We fans overdo this one every year. "Boy, that first plays really going to send a message for the year. Get er kicked off the right way!"

My guess is a quick pass out into the flats for Foster to pick up about 11 yards.

longtimefan writes:

screen pass

rockitwithrespect writes:

im glad we get to choose. we've got the best armchair OC's in the country. pure genius by fulmer and company

chrisw2967 writes:

how about an end a round to G.Jones ?

pdhuff#552644 writes:

I thought it was in the Tenn covenant that we run off right tackle.

Fools 'em every time.

GreerVol22 writes:

pdhuff, your probably right. With this jumpy O-line thing Clawson hopes to do, the first play should be to just get lined up with 11 guys... then play it by ear.

GoVol writes:

Depends on where we have the ball - field position will dictate the first play call.

TommyJack writes:

PD: Welcome back. The off tackle covenant is true, just is, on 3rd and 11, we throw a screen 4 yds. behind the LOS.
BTW, I like my jersey's orange and my Killian's red. :)

Bombaderi!!!! TO the Hizzle~~~~~

VOLatile writes:

How 'bout the Quick Kick...Haven't seen that in a while...That will send a message!

Volchaz writes:

The first 10 plays are scripted, but that doesn't mean Crompton won't audible out of it, and throw it deep on the first play from scrimmage. Look for UCLA to load the box, and force Crompton to use his reads and make plays.. which he will......

ladivolfan writes:

I'm betting my money that the first offensive play against UCLA will be Rocky Top.

HA! I KILL MYSELF!

uahvol75 writes:

im callin the short PA pass..just a hunch

ZacharyUTK writes:

I CAN TELL YOU WHAT THE FIRST THREE PLAYS ARE GOING TO BE...

1-RUN
2-RUN
3-SCREEN PASS

EVERY SINGLE TIME.

cjraney writes:

Greer nailed it. Play-action fake then throw to Foster for a good chunk of yards.

ctownvol writes:

Foster off right tackle. Anything else will shock me. I'm not saying it won't gain 8 yards, but I figure that's what we'll do on 1st and 10. Anybody heard from TnGeoff?

Major_Magilicutty writes:

those 47 people who voted that we would fumble on the first play from scrimmage all SUCK!!!!

GO VOLS!!!

ctownvol writes:

Amen Major! Must be bammer turds.

VOLatile writes:

how 'bout the Quick Kick?

orangebloodgmc writes:

We know but aint tellin.'

vol88 writes:

Maybe the first play will be an Eric Berry interception taken all the way to the house.

vol88 writes:

...or maybe an extra point after Rogan runs it back 102 yards.

but it will probably be Foster off tackle!

pdhuff#552644 writes:

TJ 10:19 - the Red is in, you may have to settle for ugly grey "I Beat JA's".

If the koolade gets much deeper, they will be placing show bets on the Bruins.

This would normally be the day to leave for Pasadena in the Ford F-600 52 passenger school bus.

If I had the $800.00 for fuel......

ctownvol writes:

I wanna ride on the bus. Can we write something crude and offensive on the folding stop sign?

ravensearay writes:

Vol88 - I like your thinking!!!!

DennisVols writes:

Crompton takes the snap, pay-action to Foster. Crompton looks right pump fake to Tayor, Crompton looks throws down the middle to a wide open Jones. He's at the 40, 45, 50, 45,40, 30, 20, 10, 5, Touchdown Tennessee!!!!!!

Major_Magilicutty writes:

I pray you're right DennisVols! That would make my day and start this team out on the good foot. I would accept a ferocious hit by Berry that rattles the Rose Bowl instead of a touchdown by Jones on the first play. But he'd need to get in the end zone on 3rd down.

TommyJack writes:

Melon: Amen, brother.

invisiblekid writes:

Crompton steps under center, looks over the defense, 2 WR set with Warren in motion left to right, calls for the snap, fakes a handoff to Foster, Crompton looks deep for Lucas Taylor who is covered, dumps it off to Warren on a drag pattern back across the formation for a first down. Vols score on the next play as they go with a 5 wide set to D. Moore on a go pattern. The Clawson Era of Dominance begins as the announcers quietly say Norm Who? in awe of what the have witnessed. Somwhere back East, a single tear drifts down Urban's cheek.

pdhuff#552644 writes:

Gen Melon 6:38 - Dupree asked me if UCLA could block the kickoff.

Great read on Al.com on SEC - also on AJC.com re Spurrier article has poll on worst SEC Coach. I won't mention who is holding down 2nd losing only to Petrino (who ditched the Falcons).

Off subject - ck out on AJC news item - live-in boyfriend gets upset when husband and wife get familiar. You couldn't make that up.

Ikid - how much is that stuff a bag these days?

gavol2572 writes:

how about.... I DON'T FREAKIN' KNOW OR CARE AS LONG AS WE WIN THE GAME!!

invisiblekid writes:

It's free if it comes from your own back 40 pdhuff. Just got to watch out for the eye in the sky. Actually, it's best to put it on the neighbor's back 40 and go for a nature hike.

Ralph_Crampton writes:

Hate to say this guys...but if the form follows, it will be this...game before last game on coast, a Bruin took the took the ball away from kickoff return man..literally ripped it out of surprised Vol players' arms and took it to the house...time elapsed-11 seconds. Last year at Cal, the ball was slapped out Angies' hands, Cal player picked it up and quickly scored. The dope on the Vols on the west coast "hit em in mouth right off" with a quick score, In both instances, Vols appeard not to be alert and timid. Hope we learn from those fiascos.

Ralph_Crampton writes:

This will b e the Vols 16th game on West Coast and have laid an egg in all with the exception of two games they won. Not a good average. What's wrong? Nobody seems to know why good Volunteer teams turn into wimps out there. Is it Hollywood...first of all Hollywood is a myth. As "bear" Bryant once said when asked about his chances against USC at the Coliseum, Bryant replied, " If his Bama players can get Hollywood out of their heads we might play fine" IN the game his Bama players took it to the unbeaten Trojans with hard-hitting defense and came away with a convincing win...Hope the Vols can do the same.

BillVol writes:

Play action incomplete 15-yard pass.

BigOrangeVol writes:

I count eleven, when were the other five BF502?

Neyland lost to USC in the Rose Bowl in '40.
Barnhill lost to USC in the Rose Bowl in '45.
Dickey lost to UCLA in '67.
Battle lost to UCLA in '75.
Majors lost to USC in '81.
Fulmer lost to UCLA in '94 and Cal in '07.

Battle beat UCSB in '71.
Majors beat UCLA in '89.
Fulmer beat UCLA in '97.

Majors tied Colorado at the Pigskin Classic in '90.

Urban_Weiner writes:

play action to foster up the middle...then an end around to Gerald Jones, but wait then he runs to the side line and instead of advancing up field he has Lucas Taylor DEEP!! Long pass leading to an untouched wide open touchdown!!!

man o man, i wish, but it'll just be an 8 yard run by Foster, leading to a touchdown of mainly all Foster with a couple short passes...which is good enough! GO VOLS
