UT baseball schedule announced

The 100th year of varsity baseball at the University of Tennessee begins Feb. 20 at Lindsey Nelson Stadium when the Vols open the 2009 season against Oregon State.

UT announced the schedule - which includes 15 of their first 18 games at home, 35 home games in all - Wednesday.

"I want to play in front of our home fans often, and I want to build that strong home base," coach Todd Raleigh said in a UT release.

". . . The level of competition we'll be facing has also been cranked up a notch, so I think it's all going to make for a great fan experience at our ballpark."

UT's schedule also features non-conference games against Coastal Carolina, Georgia Tech and Louisville, along with SEC home games against Auburn, Georgia, Mississippi State, Arkansas and South Carolina.

Seven teams on UT's schedule have made at least one appearance in the College World Series in the last four years, five won their respective conference championship in 2008 and 13 played in an NCAA Regional last season.

Tennessee will play in-state games at East Tennessee State (March 31), at Middle Tennessee State (May 12) and at Vanderbilt (May 14-16). The Vols will play Georgia Tech at Chattanooga's AT&T Field on May 6.

Who cares about baseball.

Baseball passes the time between spring practise and two a days.

I don't know about you guys but I only watch baseball in MLB playoffs or CWS.

Well, still no TN-Temple on the schedule. My guess is the boys from Loudon went straight to the Delmonico shrine with double sacrifices after reading this one.

In true fashion, the UT football fans attack their own and shoot their wounded.

This is a team from UT that wears Orange & White with black trim that are Volunteer players and look at the postings. Hey you saw it was a BASEBALL story so why read and post if you aren't enamored with baseball?
