Chris Brown, Mahelona waived by Jaguars

The Jacksonville Jaguars waived two former University of Tennessee players as NFL teams set their 53-man rosters on Saturday.

Released were defensive tackle Jesse Mahelona, who was signed earlier this month as a free agent, and undrafted rookie free agent tight end Chris Brown.

Brown could return Sunday when the Jaguars can sign eight players to the practice squad.

Mahelona has bounced around the NFL with the Tennessee Titans, Miami Dolphins and Atlanta Falcons after being drafted in the fifth round in 2006.

Atlanta also cut former UT defensive tackle Rashad Moore.

CT, unless I am in the dark here, that was Mapu, not Mahelona.

Not surprised about Mahelona, but disappointed Brown didn't catch on. He was versatile.
